As stated in the title, my 15-year-old Black & Decker RT650KA is no more, It is deceased, it has passed on. This rotary tool is no more! It has ceased to be! It has expired and gone to meet its maker! Its a stiff!

So, what corded replacement should I acquire - your recommendations are sought.

Stefan Gotteswinter recommends Proxxon. He claims it is far superior to Dremel.

I'll stick to my Dremel, I had two B&D tools, and bother broke down (no magic smoke lost), first one got replacedunder warranty, the second I pulled to bits and found that the drive from the motor to the work spindle was coupled via a short coil spring about 6 mm dia x 12 mm long, and the loop end of the spring had broken. A quick look in a box of springs, and about 5 minutes later, all back together and working. About 18 months later the magic smoke departed as the comutater collapsed in the motor.

I'm happy enough with my Dremel. Don't use it a lot but it seems to do the job.

Proxxon = German; Dremel = US, so he's probably right although probably both made in China anyway.

I had a Dremel that was made in Mexico. My Proxxon is made in the Eu. Definitely better quality than the Dremel but generally either will get the job done.
