Firstly sorry if either this is the wrong place to mention this, or secondly if this has been mentioned before.

I have just bought a fairly large and heavy item from one of the well known suppliers, I could have bought the item just a little bit cheaper also from another well known supplier. What made me choose the supplier in the end was a very quick chat about posting my parcel out to me.

The supplier told me that they use DPD as their choice of courier and that the courier could arrange at no extra cost to me, to have my parcel deliverd to a nearby shop for me to collect at my conveiniance or any other nearby outlet that is part of the network.

As someone that works shifts this simple but very effective facility has been so easy and useful that I now look for anything I need with this supplier first, only choosing an alternative if it's not available. But here is the other useful information, I can also send parcels using the same method, and, it's no more expensive than using any other courier.

So if you need a bit of flexibility with sending or receiving parcels etc, google DPD. I have no connection with them or the chosen supplier other than being a very happy customer.

This type of service has been available for a number of years in France. It is usually the cheapest method of delivery, often free.

I've used DPD to send goods back to ketan at ARC that I was testing, all very easy ARC just e-mailed me the label to go onto the box, looked up my local agent and dropped it off. I think you can print off a similar label if you are the sender.

Always get a text from DPD with when they will deliver and the options to rearrange delivery to a different time, neighbour, safe place or their local agent.

DPD rates for sending stuff seem to be very good, especially for the heavier items that we model engineers favour. Easy to pay and print off the label at home and then take to my local Sainsbury.

I find DPD very good. Interlink Express is part of DPD and has just rebranded as DPD Local. Their delivery driver is very popular here as he always has a treat for each of our dogs

+1 for DPD. We get 30kgs dog-food sent every 8weeks from N.Yorkshire to S.W France and have only had 1 "lost" shipment in 5yrs. They must have a heavy-user contract with DPD because sending 30kgs costs us £7.50p.

What makes them the courier of choice for me is the flexible way that I can both send or receive parcels without having to drive out to the couriers nearest depot to collect them, it has kind of limited the choice of suppliers I will use, but the conveiniance makes up for that.

+ 1 also - not only a very reliable courier but will collect from home and, if delivering, notify by email of delivery progress plus accurate delivery time estimate.
