I know I know I know.

But it's actually quite an interesting read

Interesting read, thanks.

I suppose that there is always at least one person who dislikes whichever form of procedure, burial or cremation, is going to be performed so you'll never win.

Ady,

Very interesting read indeed. Certainly appeals to my technical background and may alleviate any concerns about waking up in a very dark box.

Even if I do wake up as the warm alkali floods in there is no handle on the inside unlike a torpedo tube.

Wonder if they would let SWMBO keep my skull instead of bashing it up? Would look lovely with spring bulbs in.

Mick

Or an interesting light shade.

It would certainly be a conversation piece.

Both the liquid and the bones could be converted to fertilizer - they are, at least, using KOH rather than NaOH. I would endorse that, whether the liquid was sprayed 'locally' or taken away to a bulk fertiliser processing facility. The bones would clearly be good calcium/phosphate fertiliser, presumably.

Which ever way, I would not want all that Potassium to be lost by draining down to the sea.

I always fancied a Tibetan Sky Burial, but I suspect a corpse on top of Plynlimon being fed to the red kites might raise a few complaints?

For what it's worth ... 2015's cardiac problems finally put put an end to my procrastination, and I completed the paperwork to donate my bodily remains to science.

When I worked in South Africa we had a 1000 gallon hot caustic tank to degrease engines. We had an apprentice who put a RR torque convertor in the tank and went for a cup of tea, when he came back, he had to explain why he no longer had the torque converter. This was despite a large sign stating no aluminium to be put in the tank!

Certainly brings a new dimension to being light-headed.
