Most unlikely to be home made as I have one that looks identical.

PS I have just remembered that a local engineering shop has a similar one too.

exactly what I thought.

I think it was made by R,U, STY & Co

There are a lot of them about, the jaws and screw are very much like the leg vice items, it's the sort of thing a committee would design for the army if they asked for an improved vice.

Don't know about the seconds one. The first one seems to have rung a bell with a few people, why not call it 'Quasimodo'?

I found one in my Dads shed when I had to clear it - didn't have the heart to get rid. Don't know where he got it from. Oddly enough, I rediscovered it last week!

From its patent as the "parallel vice" perhaps a bit of history. And yes, it is a decent vice.
