What with Bristol, Stamford and now this one it could be the way shows are moving ? |

You lucky people! How well I remember the exhibitions at the Manchester Corn Exchange. Anyone else remember? Sam in Oz I was in absolute heaven when I used to attend the Corn Exchange exhibitions. I went with a schoolfriend for several years until they ended. I think the first time I went was in about 1955. Those were the days! Manchester city centre had three engineering shops within a few minutes walking distance of each other (Nesbitts, Stanleys, and Gleaves) I still have my original Zeus booklet and a Unimat SL which I think cost me about £25 (could that be right?). I do hope this new exhibition is a success. Ian P

7227 forum posts 21 photos | Presumably, this is a resurrection of the Show that was held for a couple of years at the Event City , Trafford Park a few years ago. In addition to the M.E. Shows already mentioned, there has been a Show at Spalding for the last two years, which appears to be growing. Great, since East Anglia seems to be missing out otherwise. It's good to see the local, and sometimes, not so local, M.E. Clubs supporting Exhibitions by having stands there. Lets hope that this one succeeds. Howard |

![]() 922 forum posts 332 photos | Thanks for the memory Ian (P). Although I lived near Bolton, Gleaves was where I bought a number of my significant add-on's for my second hand Myford ML7. In particular, the stand, the clutch, and the Norton gearbox. My last visit was in 1972, when, as a leaving present, the office staff where I had worked bought me a vernier caliper. Do you remember the model railway which could be packed away in three guitar cases. The gauge was smaller than `N' scale and the builders had made their own rolling stock and wound their own motors. When asked how they got the spokes in the engine's driving wheels, one of them replied "Oh, we just made a tool and bashed them out!" Regards to all, Sam |

![]() 121 forum posts 66 photos | Interesting! I assumed it was a rebirth of the Event City event. It is hard to find on the web and I had to search specifically for MMEX, I hope they do a good job of advertising. Being local to me its must easier to exhibit so I will be able to support, Anyone on here from the Wirral Model Engineering Society? and will they have a stand..... |

![]() 314 forum posts 44 photos | Not posted on here for a while, but I thought I'd give this a bump as it's in my neck of the woods in a fortnight. 27/2/16 & 28/2/16 Middleton Arena, North of Manchester. Looks to be smallish but hopefully if well supported may continue. I couldn't understand why the one at Event CIty near the Trafford Centre stopped after just two years. It was certainly well attended. Gary |

627 forum posts 72 photos | It's good to see shows starting up as it will help keep the hobby alive.Manchester is to far for me but the Spalding show which started two years ago allowed my friend and I to exhibit, with only 30 miles to travel this is not to much of a chore. The Harrogate show moving to Doncaster race course is also within reach ,giving the East midlands better access to shows. All credit to the organisers and wish them all the success they deserve.
