“never enough time in the shop”
First played around with my dad's lathe in my teens. This was a Drummond of about 1908 vintage. Then did an engineering apprenticeship. Then a few years later I was made redundant. Then a period of thirty years elapsed when I did virtually no engineering apart from DIY and car maintenance. I've retained a passing interest in things mechanical since with visits to industrial heritage sites, preserved railways and the odd steam rally. Then at the end of 2011 I regained an interest in model engineering and bought a mini-lathe. First project was a simple oscillating engine like the one described on Steve's Workshop. Now well into next project which is a Stuart S50.
