![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | I get the message "do you want only the content downloaded securely" which is very common and i get on a lot of sites. I don't think it means there is any problem with the site, just that it hasn't paid some fee to be registered with someone who will then say the site is registered. It may just be my computer is protecting me so I wouldn't see even if it was an ebola carrier. Doesn't actually mean a registered site is safe, just that they got conned into paying the fee. There is a similar process around some 'certificates' where they try to bad-mouth sites that haven't paid their fee. |

I now have a S4Mini and its still refusing Barclays but now using the excuse that their site failed to respond in time even when it was G3 since upgraded to G4 and nothing changed. Cant believe big firm would not have certs or be up to speed. Think Ill blo whistle to Barclays. Not previously had trouble wth maccmodels site and even ordered supplies via mobile. John |

1481 forum posts 149 photos | Hi Mick, if you are referring to maccmodels.co.uk, then i just went on it. The homepage url automatically starts with the picture of a padlock, followed by https://maccmodels.co.uk To the best of my knowledge, it means that this is a secure website. Secure generally means safe, as I understand it. If you visit ARCs website homepage, the url starts off with www...It becomes safe and secure once you log-in, after which it turns from just www., to padlock, followed by https://www.arc..... Macc does not need to put a secure certificate logo on its site. ARC just does it for the 'consumer comfort' factor. Ketan at ARC. |

1058 forum posts 16 photos | Just had a snoop around Macc models site, they've got a valid SSL certificate registered until Jan 2016 so as far as I'm concerned there isn't a 'security issue' with the site. Mick, I've seen plenty of those sort of warnings pop up and they are usually linked to some form of spyware of bot that has been inadvertently downloaded to the local machine and try to trick you into following a link to a subvertive and unscrupulous site. Suggest you run a thorough scan of your machine, using a spyware detecting app, Spybot or Mawarebytes are a good jumping off point. Graeme |

![]() 562 forum posts 34 photos | Thanks chaps, allowing for the fact that I am a war baby and are therefore a bit thick around computers I do tend to worry about these things. The page that comes up has a red padlock the https address is red with a red line through it and the legend announces "Privacy Error-connection is not private"with a "back to safety" box. I have scanned with AVG and all seems well, this also happens on maddmodders site. Mick h |

![]() 2947 forum posts 468 photos | I've had similar probs with M-Machine site, the majority of the site is fine but when tried downloading their metals catalogue I got a warning that this web page was insecure & caused IE to stop working, needed to reload page & tried again.. same message.. maybe will have to call them & pass the info along, could be a Trojan on that particular page.. strange as it doesn't seem to affect their other pages..? George. |

3 forum posts | Hi maccmodels.co.uk here. Had a few people contact me about this over the last couple of weeks. Seems our SSL certificate wasn't fully supporting very old devices and browsers. The issue has been resolved today, at a small cost to myself. I can assure you we pay a lot per year to insure our site is secure. I can also assure you nobody is “hacking” your computer or personal details. If anyone would like me to send them a copy of my SSL certificate I would be more than happy to. 340 forum posts 30 photos | I got the same warnings in Firefox and IE. I changed the browser settings, to tell the browser to ignore the security warning (it is a trusted site after all). I went to Tools, then Security, and then added the web address as an 'Exception' (trusted website). Restarted the browser. All is ok. Steve |
