Yep, had that one, for the first time, earlier this week

My latest W10 update has added a new item that I've not seen before when you ShiftKey+Right Mouse Button in an empty space in a folder in the "file explorer"....

"Open Linux shell here..."

And it does as well...so I can ls -l, ps -ef, grep, awk etc in my windows folders from a command line

Andrew - don't go please - your advice, experience and ability to communicate via the written word and pictures is as welcomed, as good and as sage as it was in 1975...

...even though our ability to build a 100Mhz amplifier (with the results either being, IIRC, zero output or 100Mhz oscillation) was unfortunately beyond us at the time

My (I'm completely convinced it's a genuine 500-196-20 - bought from Machine DRO) caliper looks absolutely just like the one on the left (i.e the alleged fake) apart from it having 5 full size digits as per the one on the right.

I've had it for around 4 years, still running on the original SR44 battery and I've probably left it on overnight at least 50 times in those years, so the power consumption off or on must be pretty small.

I thought I heard (or maybe just made it up myself) that the reporter "nodding" was to confirm to the person in the studio that they were actually hearing the question...to avoid embarrassing silences/allowing them to abort the interview quickly if the comms was broken?

Always dangerous to assume! It's all changing very soon for Windows 7 and 8.1 - MS updates for these will be "all or nothing" and I don't think you will be able to do anything about it...see here

Also, the patch downloads will be very large all the time if I read it correctly

Yes, I use it extensively, but be (obviously) aware that if you lose the file it stores them in/the PC dies etc you've lost all your passwords.

One mitigating action is to put the password file into your Dropbox folder (other cloud solutions exist) so it's stored offsite as well - yes, cloud is insecure blah blah blah, but I don't put my really valuable (and mentally remembered) passwords in it anyway.

The other mitigation is to use Keepass for ease-of-use (simple copy-paste of passwords to where you need them) and a black book as the master copy

Perhaps, and 10/10 for doing so e.g.

345bhp, AWD, stuffed full of computers and sensors, 0-60 in 4.7s, max 165mph, all as standard out of the factory. And specifically not approved to tow anything (or being towed) . Not bad for a 5-door Ford Focus...

I see no problem with the cert, but it seems that there are two ways of getting to the site...

..which is slightly odd.

I'm having no problems accessing either of them.

I usually avoid adding to posts where people talk about what they did 40-50 years ago....but I used that (ICL 2902 IIRC?) in 1979 for my final year project ...about 1000 punched cards if I remember, and no, I don't think I ever dropped them all at once

...but a very minor point in that it's a bit let down by the 4 folded sheets comprising pp 11-14 and 63-66 being misaligned by about 15 degrees ... so I'm missing a few words on the early pages and I need to deconstruct/reconstruct the magazine to be able to comfortably read Bob Rodgerson's Tormach article (the LHS of page 63 is increasingly opposite page 15!)

Give the rate at which magazines go down a production line, I would imagine there might be quite a few copies with the same problem?

+1 for Thunderbaird. Oldest saved email I have in it is June 2003 - 2 POP3 email accounts, has survived all the Thunderbird updates over the years, installation on Windows XP/7/8.1 and 10 and to my knowledge I've not lost an email yet.

@Muzzer - also being an "engineer" interested in 3D modelling and CAM I looked forward to watching your video.

It's incredibly impressive, well worth posting and a great advert for F360. As you say, it's not a step by step guide on "how to".

I lasted for the first 6 minutes and then dipped into later parts. I did think I might learn a bit of "how to" but came away with absolutely nothing I'm afraid - I was completely lost by 0m:53s.  Must stay in more and learn this tool

Am just about to fit some production quality stepper motors to my Chester 20V X, Y and Z as a proof-of concept before going to a fuller CNC solution. Will initially drive them from a lashup made of an Arduino plus production quality drivers and a power supply...so essentially just "power feeds" to start with (that bit already built and working fine on the bench)

I will need some couplings between the motor shafts and the leadscrews (full CNC solution will be ballscrews) and I seem to have a choice:
- CNC/production quality Oldham couplings - but they seem very expensive for a PoC, circa £15 each from say Arceurotrade (two hubs and one disk per axis, if I read it right)
- the "flexible shaft" aluminium couplings (seem to be just a spiral cut in an aluminium cylinder) from *Bay, either via an English source (still quite expensive) or from China (cheap)
- something else.

Any ideas please?

Very powerful, very cheap, top reviews - mine is great

You could right-mouse-button on the C:/D:/USB Key etc and select "Pin to Quick access" thereby having them at the top left of the Explorer as well as their normal, lower, position.

Win 7 -> Win 10 upgrade here. No problems.

Was a bit concerned about my "precious" programs, but Win 10 runs:
