Hi Chris

The first magazine you are likely to receive will be 212.

211 was already posted when the code was made active.

regards David

.

Is that right, David ???

I only received 210 recently , and that's dated December.

When subscribing last week, I was given the choice of which issue to start the subscription with, the earliest being issue 211, Jan 2014. To be posted mid December.

Chris,

The confusion was probably caused by the fact the mailing envelopes are numbered one higher than the magazine inside.

This dates back a while; to when they sent out an un-numbered "special" and now they can't get the numbers back in phase.

Question to DC1; How much tolerance before/after the subscription offer has been published is there? I wonder if it would be a case to ask since I renewed less than a month before the offer was published?

Hi Peter E

Sorry, if you do not quote the code you do not get the gift.

Nothing I can do about that.

However, if you extend your subscription for another year and quote the code, you can get the gift but you must quote the code.

regards david

Mine arrived too but its got bit of wobble!

I've not drilled any holes yet and I don't know what its runout specification is, so how useful it will prove to be is open for debate.

Thought I had better check mine, mine has pronounced wobble too. Measured runout on jt0 spindle and got 0.35mm - totally unacceptable. I think the chocolate nut and bolt on another thread would have more uses, at least I could eat it!!!

I feel we have been duped.

Anyone care to comment?

Received mine yesterday, apart from a tiny burr on the spring groove which was causing some binding at the start of travel (stoned it off and all good now), there is no discernable runout on this one.

Suggest you guys talk to MHS (or talk nicely to Ketan at Arc) MHS should replace any faulty items.

Hi David

In answer to my own question (and subsequent reading in the forum) yes cancel the current DD's claim the gifts renew DD's over the phone dead easy. Did n't realise I could set up the DD at the same time until told by the receptionist simple (I assumed it'd be a year subscription). However it would have been more simple to send me the gifts and ask me for the difference in subscription rates if I wanted them. I have asked for this to be passed on upwards as a suggestion. I assume that most people would be like me wanting the security of the magazines continuing and getting my magazines if they already pay by DD and so would be likely to be happy to have a short cut to getting the gifts (if they wanted them!)

PS would prefer a land line I did not have to pay for not 0844 doesn't have to be 0800 I already (like most) have free landline calls.

regards

Ian

Hi Ian

Getting the free gift for renewing subscriptions is bending the rules.

Best not to rock the boat.

I can't do nothing about 0844 numbers.

My gift was waiting for me on my return from the UK on Friday last. First impressions are very favourable. I haven't used it yet but I see no reason to think it will be anything other than satisfactory.

Well I renewed my subscription on 19/11/13 (see previous post). Seems like it would be issue 212 before "the Gift" would arrive. 212 landed this morning but no gift. Couple of good articles, lots of adverts, couple of pages about garden sheds, should have bitten the bullet at the time & not bothered renewing.

In my opinion MEW is approaching the cliff edge in that the standard set at its beginning has been dropping off for the past few years however this forum & the information & advice given on it is the one saving grace.

Dons flak jacket ,tin hat & goes back to the workshop.

Can one still be a forum member if no longer a subscriber???

Anyone can be a forum member, you don't have to have a subscription.

Mike,

I renewed mine on 19th Nov. & quoted the correct code & I`m still waiting & I`m in Blighty !! So we `ll just have to wait & wait & wait!!

Don`t think I`ll bother renewing again.
