That's it, having recently repaired a Mamod traction engine for someone I thought I would see if I could come up with a similar reversing method for a simple engine.

Over the last couple of weeks I've finally finished off my ELS fitted to a myford 254. Not the one being described elsewhere, this is the Joe Noci version.

I'd like to publicly thanks Joe for patiently responding to my multitudinous e-mails, most of which were needed because of my own ineptitude.

I'll now be able to cut all those imperial threads which have been such a pain beforehand. I'll probably never recoup the time I've spent, but it was educational and fun. I've attached some pictures. All I need to do now is make a belt guard

NIcely done, Duncan.

If you want to send me a short description and a few hi-res photos we could feature it in MEW, with due acknowledgement to Joe, of course!

Duncan, I see from the photo the stepper HAS an extension shaft, so a rattle damper is easily fitted.

No doubt you will fit one ( a few??) in pursuit of the 3mm pitch @ 500rpm....

Paul White ( a self admitted octogenarian+) also built up one of these ELS systems about a year ago, on a lathe older than he. I seem to remember he did also post something on MEW forum, but, as usual, I am useless with the applicable search engine..Can't find it! Or maybe it was the gear hobber he posted about?

Surely Joseph could be persuaded to write up some articles for MEW re the many ingenuous + exceptionally well produced electronic-mechanical workshop adaptations he has shown on this forum over the last few years

img_0973.jpgMaking this Harold Hall mill sharpener jig has given me 5 firsts.

1. Working with Cast Iron.

2 Turning a taper.

3 Straight boring

4 Boring a taper.

5 Using a slitting saw.

The indexer and guide blades are made but not fitted.

The finish is nothing to shout about but I'm looking forward to using it.

At last I have finished Muncaster's double acting oscillator and when I figure out how to get my u-tube video linked I will post it and some pictures.

My thanks to Geoff Walker 1 for generously gifting me some drawings and a cylinder casting for this engine. I hope I have done it justice.

Jason thanks for fixing the link. I always have a battle getting them to work but I thought I had cracked it this time as it worked OK for me.
