Gentlemen,

On the Radio 4 one oclock new today the Post office announced that they have 28 area's in the UK including Northern Ireland where they are struggling with deliveries, apparently due to staff shortages, Covid related and major increase on internet shopping.

After emailing a reminder to Beth I received the following:
"I've had a look into your subscription, and it appears there's been a temporary suspension put on your account. This could be for a variety of reasons but I can't see in depth enough and so I've passed this onto our account managers at the subscriptions bureau and asked someone to contact you as soon as they can on this.

As I've been saying all along there are problems in that one branch bases its action on date of printing whilst the other on issue number - either that or Jason put a hex on my subscription

Sadly no No.300 yet SW Essex. Post received yesterday after 10 day interval but no MEW.

Hopefully, next week will bring it.

I gave up and bought the sole copy in W H Smiths - have informed Beth + maybe once between her + the subscription handling dept they can add an additional issue in lieu - what does surprise me in that I am the only one to have received this treatment - maybe because the 1st sub was a Xmas present (to myself!) the first issue of the year would normally be part of a renewed subscription as I only pay for one year at time as distrust such organisations obtaining direct access to my bank account - after all they haven't really demonstrated much competence so far.

to close this saga and illustrate the disconnect between sections of MTM i have just received a nominally couriered copy of #300 the paperwork states delivered to DHP at 14:41 on the 19th Jan and arrived via Royal Mail on 22nd - however I had emailed Beth on 16th stating that not having had any communication from MTM I had bought the sole copy in Smiths - so now I have 2 copies, no explanation of why my subscription was suspended and a rather jaundiced view about MTM

Or could it be a combination of there being a weekend between the 16th & 19th and the fact many of the MTM staff work part time so she or the next person down the line may not have looked at e-mail on Monday 18th.

Though Neil's two posts above do seem to show some disconnect in one sectionsurprise

well maybe things have improved as #301 has just dropped thro my letter box - the earliest it has ever been wrt to date it appears in the shops - this time it arrived in the standard plastic bag rather than a special delivery.

It is if you read it on Pocketmags which is the method we always recommend. As is ME 4658

Archive somwetimes lags, the assumption is that people read their subs copies on pocketmags, The archive was intended for back issues, although they tend to be put up relatively early these days.

My paper copies of 301 came yesterday.

Up here in sunny South Australia MEW 300 has just arrived. I am happy to admit to being impressed with it. The carrier pigeon seemed a bit exhausted........

cheers

I still occasionally check W H Smiths main shop in Churchill Sq., Brighton and still no sign of ME/MEW/EIM but have usual railway, bus tractor mags. Seems like they have fallen below a certain critical no of sales per month so no longer stock them. They are after all probably mainly casual purchases,, regular buyers likely to be using subscriptions. I noted last week a greatly reduced variety of the others, railways buses tractors traction and stationary engines mags, so perhaps pandemic has driven vast numbers of customers to subscriptions.

My copy of 301 arrived a bit earlier than expected.
