I wouldn't worry too much about any legal stuff

Showing Smoking on the TV is illegal, so much so that a rather good drama "Murder on the home front" hardly has a single smoker in it even though it is set in WW2 (On this thursday, 8 or 9pm) This is because the TV has such a huge influence on weak minded people

Last night at a friends, and channel hopping, we stopped just in time to see someone getting their head caved in with a claw hammer. Full on, splat splat splat splat stuff

The world has gone nuts. Just enjoy any decent bits we have left... like model engineering

Given all the indubitable skills and talent on this forum; any ideas on how one would achieve that rifling??>>

I know that large bore short barrelled firearms , eg centrefire pistols- 9mm, 44's etc, can be rifled by having a reamer shaped broach pushed through the barrel. Rifles have a single point tool pulled through the barrel as it turns. Rifling is only a couple of thousands of an inch deep, but it looks a lot deeper on that cannon barrel. good article here   http://www.border-barrels.com/articles/bmart.htm

Bob/editor

As an aside; your page write up has appeared to stretch right over to the right hand side with a column of ads cutting through about 1/3 width of page on right side, it only appears on your write up as I have read other pages with photos & all are ok, within borders & ads in the normal page border on right side, could your pic size be affecting format, or compatability issue?

Is that any better George?

It looked OK to me but I have put the text and photo onto two separate lines now.

Coming on nicely, Bob. Will you or the builder end up with a set of plans that could be sold or shared?

There have been guns in model engineer before now, this would be a good one there. Ian S C

yes he is indeed talented, I'm very pleased with the work. I have had to butt out due to frustrating him with my interference! I will ask him about the drawings though. Thanks for comments

Just a thought. If anyone making a model gun is worried about the legal implications, could they not make the barrel from what is commonly known as "monkey metal". Surely this would make it un-useable?

Don't worry, he's already taken care of all of that stuff.

Focus on the lovely workmanship

I have to step in here.
, sorry.

The workmanship is obviously first class and this is an interesting thread, but I am afraid I need to know more about 'all that stuff' of I will have to ask our legal person to look closely at this. Will the builder or the customer please email me directly with the details, wth a view to reassuring me that this is not a working firearm and therefore suitable for this forum.

Diane you may want to look at Bobs earlier thread and the photos in his album. As Bob makes FULL SIZE replicas for a living for museums etc I'm sure he knows all the legal implications.

Hi all.

1. It is made of a metal that cannot be used to fire a projectile without exploding.
2. At 1/13 scale of 8" there is no such ammunition for it.
3. It has no striking mech.
4. It has all the lethal barrel properties as a Britains version.
5. It cannot fire, nor be made to fire anymore than a length of BSP piping can - even if therews such ammunition . But there is not.
Its a model
