26 forum posts | I would not recommend going down the "Don't pay the next renewal route" I went this way with a "Readers Indigestible" magazine subscription. They hounded me for months on end, threatened me with debt collectors...the lot! In the end I had to pay another years subs because I had not formally advised them I didn't want to renew!.Still they sent me magazines! I eventually sent them two letters per week for a month advising I didn't want anymore, & then sent them another letter at the next renewal date. I would suggest that you advise in writing by letter that you wish to cancel & keep a dated copy of your letter. Not saying that this magazine would do the same but some sales staff can be hyenas...especially if on a bonus deal! regards R

Thankyou all for the replies. Looks like email or phone then. Yes i am paying by direct debit so i would like it sorted before the money is taken out of my bank account. Hi Jason (moore), For info, my subs to MEW was due to expire on the 28th Feb 2014. I'm on direct debit and was waiting until the 14th to see what the special offer would be (I already have the Foundation book). I knew if I took the special offer my subs would increase but thought it might be worth the extra if it was something I wanted. Anyway, on the 7th Feb the subscription was automatically renewed so I didn't get the chance. I'm not bothered as I use my caliper as a depth gauge. Just warning you that it might be sooner than you think. Gary Edited By GaryM on 15/02/2014 11:00:19 |

![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Hello Jonathon, There are always multiple offers available. Each has a code you can enter at the checkout. For MEW a good one is the "editor's special deal" 3 for £1, £.23 per £10.50 a quarter after that, or £12.75 for print+digital. No free gift. www.subscription.co.uk/mewl/L248 Naturally having a percentage of paying subscribers is nice, because then we can keep producing the mag, and I get paid Neil |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | £2.12 (not £12.12)for each issue after the offer expires works out at £55.12 a year £13.75 a quater works out at £55.00 a year 12p difference is hardly "catching you out" As we gave up using 1/2p pieces quite a few years ago the £2.12 is the nearest whole penny to £55 divided by 26 issues = £2.1153p. Infact if you read the subscription details fully you will see that you are only being asked to pay the £55 a year and not £2.12 an issue.

![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | Neil, sorry to be dumping this on you. Does my sub renew on the aniversary of today 1 year after starting or 3 issues later allowing for the first 3 at £1? If I go to the link you gave above I get a different page from the one I eventually get to using the 'subscribe' tab at the top of the forum page. Example print issues: The latter page says total 13 issues, 3 at £1 and subsequent issues (10 implied) at 3.23. That seems to be £3 + 32.3 = £35.3 for 13 issues ending 1 year from today. It is a real pain after hitting the 'subscribe' tab at the top of the forum to have to go to 13 different page loads to get a list of the prices of all the options and then not really know what teh actual price is. Get all the prices on one page. Then get all the bits to stack up. I suggest the management get an elderly relative of >70 years to look at the website as it stands for no more than 5 minutes and then write down with confidence how much they must put aside from their pension per week for each product and how much each issue is costing. |
