Which moderator hates ME so much that they would delete my posting, I did not know that ME Moderators lived in a Hitler regime...
Now I was thanking Dianne and for her team for a very well thought out and superb issue, Great articles a wonderful mix of articles and well presented. I know that I have been a critic of content in the past but this was superb
Well Done Dianne and team..

If any so called Moderator or what you wish to call yourself deletes this I will track you down and get you de-moderated. OUCH sounds painfull.
I will now get the screams "It was not me"
Bob

Do You mean ME (you) rather than Model Engineer or do you mean Model Engineer rather then ME (you)?

If he means you it could be ME but then again if it wasn't ME it must have been you.

The topic was here earlier on Bob, but your post was not and then someone replied and just put a question mark up (in reply) . So your post didnt make it onto the site but your topic did ...

I PM'd you Bob. It was deleted in error this morning ... bit of a slip-up you understand.

Thank you for putting it back. I am very glad you like this issue. It is good to be appreciated sometimes.

One person here thinks ME is going to the dogs and makes a point of saying so to anyone who will listen (never directly to me of course) but I genuinely think that person is in the minority judging by the unsolicited feedback I get ... and fortunately not many people do listen anyway - ha ha.

There's an awful lot of thought goes into planning each issue these days. I am very grateful for some terrific writers and the work of our designer, Yvette. I think 4467 was a particularly nice cover. What do others think?

Diane;

Still waiting for 4466 - 4467 is a couple of weeks away from "touchdown".

I really enjoy sitting down (not on the computer) and reading Model Engineer; as I've said before, and I'll say again, I think you (plural) are doing a great job on this magazine.

Hi Diane. That's why I thought we had the 'Ignore Member' button.

(Only had to use it once, and that was a spammer)

Keep up the good work!

Mines not here yet, will be in a day or so. People have been bagging ME since before day one in 1898, back then some gave it a matter of months till it folded, we're still waiting, and might still be waiting in another hundred years. Ian S C

G'day from over the ditch Ian.

That would make M.E. one of the longest running publications in the world. Not bad!

There are plenty of UK publications over 200 years old, mostly newspapers.

Since the subject of front covers has been raised and I have just been looking up old articles can I make a few comments.

In the past some issues have had the date completely missing off the front cover!. You seem to be ok recently but please make sure it never ever happens again.
Next please give some more consideration to the readability of the number/date. It is often plonked over a bit of photo often making it very hard to read. Last issue had the Model Engineer title over a plain background section so the date details were nice and clear but a few issues back the mag was renamed "Model Enginee". that wasn't cool or trendy it was sloppy.
The top banner "The original...etc" is completely and utterly pointless. Issue number in the 4 thousands says it all. Why not move the number/date up there in BIG type so that in a pile of issues it can easily be seen without pulling the mag halfway out.

Finally after browsing a few dozen back copies I have a plie of them to refile. It would really really help if every issue had a small coloured tabat the spine half an inch high that moved up one unit with each issue and changed colour with each volume. Sorting would then be easy by colour and position, missing or miss-filed issues would be easy to spot.

The cover date has a big influence of how long sellers display the issue. the mag got seriously out of sync several years ago and they wouldn't put the date on the front until it got back to schedule, otherwise it would have come off the shelves before it got to them, if you know what I mean!

> a small coloured tab at the spine half an inch high that moved up one unit with each issue

Nice idea. perhaps two colours, one for odd and one for even issues, to help with tracking alternate fortnight series.

I am led to believe that Model Engineer is the olderst hobby magazine in the world. I have never had it proved otherwise. Does anyone know any different?
