Hi Bob

I can recommend THESE folk. You can download their catalogue from the website and you will find it very comprehensive. A 'phone call to them is greeted with helpful response and delivery is rapid. ( No I'm not on commission - just a satisfied customer!)

Regards

Norman

( Even deeper in the South West I think!)

I've been happy with stuff I've bought from an EBay seller who trades as "10gbottles" - his shop is called Metal Mania - but unless you're into some seriously heavy music I wouldn't put that last bit in as a search term!

He's usually got quite a few hex and round bar sizes in stock and while the carriage charges look high for one item - if you can stock up on a number of sizes then the same charge applies up to more than you'd want to carry very far.

Not sure how the prices compare bit overall I've been quite satisfied with what I've bought.

I've used Mallard Metal Packs and College Engineering Supplies as well. Blackgates and Reeves also do materials.

Hi Bob

I use M Machine and have just used college engineering supplies. I'm in the southwest too and haven't found a local supplier to collect new stock from. I do have friendly metal recycling chap who can normally supply short lengths of brass and aluminium rounds and blocks. I pay scrap price for these so it's a cheap source. He usually chucks a few bits in as good will. It may be worth trying the recyclers in your are. I tried a few bigger yards but they were not interested.

Regards

Bob..

If you are near Falmouth, they have an excellent non ferrous and stainless steel stockist who cut to any length, and will post. Look em up in Yellow pages.

in my experience Milton Keynes Metal are seldom beaten on price, but if you your is complex you may have to wait a couple of weeks on delivery. Usual no connection caveats apply.

Bob, how about trying the MEW partner listed at the right hand side of this page....Diamond-ESupplies .co.uk. After all I guess they pay to advertise on here and if they are not supported then they could withdraw their ad and their money. Just a thought. HTH.

I've seen the Diamond supplies advert (how could one miss it when it overlays the forum text!) but I wonder why they are the only company selling metal 'Rods'?

I'm just being pedant really but on their website they call the material 'Bar Rod'.
