I have just purchased a C7 capstan from Ebay.
It is the proper one with a Trileva and cross slide with handwheel.
Can anyone help me with a manual for it?
Also, I will need the Trileva adjusting details. These were published in some of the earlier Myford handbooks I think.
Reasonable expences paid.
regards David

1228 forum posts 172 photos | Rummage successful!! However only limited info. Just half a page on the Tri-Leva setup plus another half page and photos of adjustment and a cutaway drawing and parts list for the Tri-Leva Speed Selector itself. Nothing on the capstan tailstock, although mine is pretty straightforward in operation. Ady's ref. above is the same thing, so worth a d/l Rgds Bill |

Thank you for the info, and you JS.
The capstan is straightforward, I just wondered what tooling was available from new.
My workshop is just about complete now.
It comprises
Myford ML7R lathe
Tom Senior light vertical mill
Myford C7 capstan
Arc Euro Trade KX1 CNC mill
Sealy 12 speed bench drill
Oldak tapping machine
Power cutoff bandsaw.
Tooling and equipment for above

Congratulations David, Apart from some very old Myford catalogues, I can’t help with any paperwork. However, it looks like you don’t really need any. I’m reminded that we had one of those capstans for the Super 7's in the toolroom where I served my apprenticeship. I couldn’t see myself buying one for my ML7 so I made a version of the type which sits on the cross-slide. You can get a sense of it from two pictures I’ve posted via the http’s below. I didn’t however, get to finish the depth indexer which I designed to pass along the lathe in place of the tailstock. I’d arranged for it to be coupled to the underside of the capstan head and geared 1:1 via a couple of 45 degree bevel gears. This would ensure that whichever capstan station was selected, the indexer would also be positioned at that station too.
There wasn’t enough height to tilt the head as with your C7 version. Nevertheless, it served me well for several production-type operations especially machining out the bores of those plastic (acrylic) valves.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy the extra versatility from having the C7. Regards, Sam Two views of a home-made Myford capstan

8 forum posts 2 photos | Hi David, I too was enviously watching the C7, well done on Your purchase, might I ask what You are going to use her for ? I have found the Myford cross slide capstan turret invaluable in My small engineering business, but as I use the ML7 for general turning as well it's a bit of a pain to keep swapping ! I also use the hand wheel cut off slide and the lever collet chuck with the capstan fitting. Cheers now, Mick. |

It is a Myford ML7 with a Trileva attachment, a part off slide and a turret.
No screwcutting gear either.
It also has phosphor bronze bearings rather than whitemetal.

1 forum posts | Hi.I have a Myford C7 capstan. It has a tri-leva set up,collet chuck with many collets and a single phase motor. It has no stand and was used for making tungsten darts. It has been stored for a while. I have overhauled the capstan attachment but rather than spend time overhauling the rest I thought I would sell it for any reasonable offers.
