Looking for parting-tool inserts

![]() 323 forum posts 35 photos | I have an early Greenwood 'Q-cut' Mk 2 parting-off tool. Now Greenwood is gone, I need to find an alternative source for the inserts. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please ? |

Hi Bob, This post may help. Be aware that there were two versions of the tool produced. The post to which you refer relates to the Mark I version and the insert code mentioned there (151.2 etc.) only fits that version. This thread is about the Mark II version, taking a different insert code, the one mentioned by JasonB. |

Anyway, a picture being worth a thousand words, here is the Q-cut in question :- |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | That's the one the code I posted fits, same 1125 on the insert as at the end of the code |

![]() 2376 forum posts 800 photos | I'm note sure if there was an official mk I or II designation. Back in 2018 Greenwood were advertising the new KIT-QD version. I approached Greenwood at the Midland show and bought a couple of the previous model (1125) tips for my KIT-Q-CUT. The Q cut works very well but e.g. ARC sell similar systems and they work fine for considerably less money. When my last Q cut tip dies I will transfer my affections to a cheaper system for my rear toolpost. Rod |

That's the one the code I posted fits, same 1125 on the insert as at the end of the code I believe the 1125 is only the carbide grade. That insert will not fit the one in his picture. The one pictured is not what I would call a Mark 2 version. The insert for the one pictured is the 151.2 code, similar to the one here: https://www.zoro.co.uk/shop/cutting-tools/parting-inserts/n151-2-250-5e-insert-grade-1145/p/ZT1006152P It is the newer version that takes the QD NF insert, pictured here: https://www.sandvik.coromant.com/en-us/product-details?c=QD-NF-0250-0002-CM%20%201125 |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | You could be right, just took another look at the one Greenwood had for sale yesterday and the hole the insert goes into is different being one that is spread open by the tool rather than the tool just pushing the insert out. |

287 forum posts 6 photos | Many apologies, felt sure I’d bought them individually many years ago when I also bought a sandvik parting tool blade from RileyShutt as mine from greenwood was becoming a bit tired and prone to losing grip on the insert. The double ended sandvik one can be cut in half, drilled and countersunk to replace the greenwood sourced items, the result is blade a bit shorter overall but it still parts off the same diameter. (This was sometime before sandvik QD arrived) |
