![]() 1009 forum posts 305 photos | I am getting fed up with royal mail keep blaming covid for the delays in dealing with the mail I am now waiting for Me to be delivered from the 31st and we are now nearly due for another. This is not the first time either the two before that took 2 weeks+ to arrive. Do the managers of the depots not tell the staff to follow some covid restriction to prevent the spread. I am also waiting for a delivery from Tracey tools again down to the Royal Mail. Rant over |

4655 forum posts 304 photos | I hope you are right about eventually delivering. I have two items with tracking numbers from Royal Mail which say "despatched" which are a little overdue. I cannot find out more details, only the senders can do that. One was sent on the 22 December. |

Earlier this month Mr Johnson ordered ministers to prepare 'robust contingency plans' because of the record high infection rates. They were told to plan for up to a quarter of all workers being off due to Covid. Lots of disruption at the moment. The only good news is Omicron isn't as vicious as the earlier variants and the vaccine reduces Covid symptoms effectively. Vaccinated people are about 80% less likely to be bumped off or made seriously ill by Covid if you catch it. Covid cares nothing about the inconvenience it causes. It doesn't even know we exist... 133 forum posts 6 photos | Hi Derek, as an ex postie it is in fact the managers that stop walks going out. Its even the case that they take posties off their own round to take out another and their own gets left for another day. Case of too many chiefs i'm afraid. |

3453 forum posts 23 photos | It must be a regional thing. I’ve not experienced any delays and often get next day from some retailers. I’m not sure how they can do it that quick? I’m also buying increasing amounts of stuff from Amazon and get next day with Prime. |

![]() 1009 forum posts 305 photos | If so many posties are going down with covid then no one is using common sense when near each other it does not need someone in authority to tell people that or should we blame the managers for not informing them to do it. "I was not told to wear a mask" is not an excuse in my eyes How many here wear flip flops in the workshop and drop something on their toes just to blame someone else or do you all use common sense. |

2276 forum posts 801 photos | The UK is not the only country with postal delivery problems. We have a similar problem with Australia Post because of a shortage of courier drivers who have cortracted Covid. Some supermarket shelves are empty because they can't get supplies. I have been waiting for a delivery which I orderred 2 weeks ago. I know of goods which took 6 weeks to be delivered. This is a photo of one of the many distribution warehouses with a backlog of un delivered goods. |

7227 forum posts 21 photos | The problem with a magazine may not be the mail system, but the mailing house that sends out the magazines on behalf of the publishers. The magazines are sent from the printers to the mailing house, so the supply chain can have more links than you imagine. Quite often, something ordered one day from a supplier arrives within a couple of days. On other occasions, we get no mail for a couple of day, and then a lot arrives. But generally R M manages quite well around our city. Howard |

I have two items with tracking numbers from Royal Mail which say "despatched" which are a little overdue. My experience is that "despatched" is the status shown once the seller has created the shipping label and obtained the tracking number. It doesn't mean the Post office have got it. When they do get it it usually shows as "received at....". If they are still showing as dispatched, it is probably the shipper to blame not the post office. |

1394 forum posts 103 photos | We have only had 1 mail delivery at work since returning in the New Year - usually we have a van delivery daily. At the request of management, I have just contacted the postman who, until a recent re-organisation, was our "regular". We share similar aviation interests, so I have his contact details. Problems are country wide & due to staff shortages (you know the reason ... ). Things were bad before Xmas (my contact was working 2 full shifts back-to-back before Xmas) & are apparently no better now. I doubt things will improve until the isolation requirements are eased back to levels normally required for flu. Nigel B. |

1193 forum posts 59 photos | I ordered a 10mtr Cat7 network cable on the 16th December. I waited untill January 5th and then contacted the seller. He offered to send another out. As I was in no rush I told him to wait untill the 10th and I would let him know if it had arrived or not. Well lo & behold it turned up on Monday the 10th. I managed to catch the postman and he told me that our round had only been partially servised ? Only letters were being delivered and all packages held back until they had enough staff to deliver them. So a 1st class package took almost a month to arrive. Even the postman could not understand why this happened as he said they had very few people off sick or absent. I went to Curry's just before Xmas to get a new DVR for erindoors as the old one was a bit long in the tooth and starting to do its own thing. I checked online and they had stock of the model I wanted in store locally. Got there and a pimply youth came slouching over to enquire whether I was just looking or actually shopping. I pointed to the item I wanted and said "I would like one of those" Hmm he said I'll see if we have stock. After some key thumping and shaking of pimply face he looked up and said "we have none in stock". I told him that according to their website they had stock. Oh dont take any notice of the website says he, Covid has affected our stock levels and we have none. OK says I, I will take the one on the shelf I dont need the box or the leads just power supply and unit. He said "Cant do that, its our demo model". "Why would you need a demo model when you have no stock ?" asks I. No answer to that just a dumb look. With that I walked out went to Argos and got one there. I think as others that many companies are just using Covid as an excuse. regards Edit. As I was typing this post I heard mail come through the letterbox. Well 4 Xmas cards arrived all posted in time for the grand event. Edited By Oldiron on 12/01/2022 13:37:50 Edited By Oldiron on 12/01/2022 13:38:07 fingers not working. Some supermarket shelves are empty because they can't get supplies. Australia. Now there is a laugh. My diamond tool holders ordered beginning of November still not have arrived, Although I understand that they hit UK customs 4-5 days ago. Apparently the main hold up was Aus customs ( Why would they worry about stuff going OUT?) In any event i would not bother using Ecentric Engineering again. Not worth the wait. Stuff will have rusted through by the time I get it Edited By Sam Longley 1 on 12/01/2022 17:37:33 |
