88 forum posts 15 photos | Well, two more of thr teeth on my chuck’s jaws finally gave,
It is for a myford ml10 burnerd chuck. Is there anyone here who has an extra set of these, or knows where to find them? It is a self centering jaw, three teeth. |

1505 forum posts 56 photos | Try rotagriponline.com. look in their index tab for Pratt Burnerd jaws and try to match up what you want with what you've got. If push comes to shove, you might be able to post one of yours to them to be sure the ones you choose are the same as those they pull off the shelf. |

1050 forum posts 56 photos | Rotagrip will probably be able to supply, but the cost of replacement PB jaws is eye-watering. A new, far-eastern chuck would make better economic sense IMO |

4655 forum posts 304 photos | You will have to measure the chuck diameter and all of the jaw dimentions especially the tooth pitch. Look carefully on ebay for a match. It may be easier to chuck the chuck and replace it with a new one from somewhere like ARC. |

88 forum posts 15 photos | There was a tooth broken on the chuck a while back, and then another one broke...you get the idea. I will post some pics tonight of which chuck it is. I’d like to see if i could find some teeth for this chuck, instead of purchasing a cheap knock off chuck, but will see I guess. Edited By Jeremy Smith 2 on 24/05/2021 19:28:08 |

4655 forum posts 304 photos | Check that the jaws are a good fit in their slots, the slots in the body might have been strained, and a close look at the scroll is a good idea. There is a chance that your lathe could take a slightly bigger chuck, I'm sure somebody could advise the maximum usable size. |

88 forum posts 15 photos | What does everyone here recommend as a replacement chuck? Should I get one size larger for my ml10? I have a monster 6” chuck, but when the teeth are extended, it doesn’t clear the bed. Trying to find a happy medium on size. |

505 forum posts 99 photos | If its any help i can recommend the chucks sold by ARC, I bought a 4 Jaw s/c 125mm chuck and couldn't believe the accuracy over a range of diameters, I was so impressed I bought a 125mm 3 jaw initially for rougher work to save my nos P-B 3 jaw, but again the accuracy is most impressive. Only had them a couple of weeks so can't say its a long term test, not quite as smooth in operation as the P-B but seems well made and an absolute bargain at £50 for the 3 jaw. It cost more for the D1 backplate than the chuck! Dave |

1817 forum posts 2 photos | I second that. ARC's Chinese chuks are as good as an ordinary PB chuck. They stand up to a lot of work, without any distress. Andrew. |

I'm fairly sure the 1580 series 4" chucks are Imperial - if so the pitch of the teeth should be 5.08mm - that is the distance from the front edge of one tooth to the front edge of the following one, i.e. the total width of one tooth and the gap next to it. The height of the slot in the side of these jaws is 4.85mm.
The metric P-B 100mm jaws have a pitch of 6mm and a 7mm high slot. If your chuck is Imperial, I think soft jaws type EJC will fit - for replacement hard jaws you could try try P/nos. 2580 10603 (inside), and 2580 10602 (outside). Both of these are now obsolete. I'm not absolutely certain these will fit, but it might give you something to go on. If you want to do further internet legwork, I found the dimensional / part no. information from pdf spec. sheets from Rotagrip and Thame Workholding's websites... 4655 forum posts 304 photos | Diogenes II has measured the pitch of an imperial measurement chuck. The tooth pitch is 5.08mm, or 0.2", 5 teeth per inch. If your chuck is a metric one the pitch will be 6mm. This is the easiest way to tell the difference between the 100mm chucks. |
