Isn’t the nozzle cleared by a quick press with the can inverted?

Greetings, I find that the ball in the valve at the top of the can gets clogged.

You can use mini paint spray gun thinners as well.

A great solution that I will definitely try. My solution is less elegant but so far has worked for me, is that after clearing the nozzle by a quick press with the can inverted (which as Blue Heeler says does not work too well for long-term storage) is to push a fine wire into the spray hole and leave it there until the spray can is used again. I have kept a clapped-out wire brush for use as a fine wire donor.

I always use gun wash, which is a cheap cellulose thinner. Around a fiver for a gallon. Used for cleaning spray guns.

As explained in the video I spray lots of small parts. There's no way there's going to be enough propellent in the can to keep cleaning the nozzle by inverting it each time I spray something.

My usual method is poking a bristle from a wire brush down the small spray hole and swearing a lot.

Hi, not so long ago, I had one of these rattle cans with zinc based paint for galvanise repairs / touch-up, and like has been said, very often was used just for one or two small areas to paint and although turning turning upside down each time, the nozzle blocked. After cleaning out the nozzle and trying again, it just kind of spat a few drops of paint and then stopped again, so I tried a brand new nozzle from an unused can and it still just spat a few drops and stopped. I think the can only had about a quarter of it's contents left but this paint was a bit pricy, so I was loathed to discard it, to cut a long story short, it turned out that it would only spray the paint when shook and then turned upside down and sprayed, but I only got short burst of spray each time and it never did spray the correct way up again, but at least the paint wasn't wasted, but seemed very strange why it wouldn't spray in the correct manner.

G'day Hopper, been there mate as well. My swearing came from the next time I went to spray something though because of the big droplets coming out because I'd deformed the nozzle outlet with the wire

Hi there!

I just pop My nozzles in a jar of thinners after use, fish them out when needed,give them a quick wipe with paper towel.

Pop them back on the can and spray a little paint through before starting the job proper.

G'day I like my idea better

I have so many different brands of cans and nearly every nozzle is different, this was I know the right nozzle is with the right can. And did you notice that each time I blew the turps out the nozzle it went further as the paint cleared internally? But whatever works best for you....its better than full cans of paint that are blocked!
