976 forum posts 805 photos | I was slightly amused to find that the best way of making a square hole involved buying a $150 rose index rather than a $150 broach... However, it does look like a handy piece of kit - though quite expensive (even before the carriage). It's gone on my todo list!

Iain I think if you were to buy a Rose block (better still, make one) it would turn out cheaper than buying a set of broaches & dies and a press to use them. regards |

![]() 1602 forum posts | May well have misunderstood what's going on, but why is turning through exactly 90 degrees so important for drilling the pin holes? Wouldn't 'about 90 degrees' be OK, or really any angle so long as the drilled pin holes didn't break into the square hole? |

Iain Maybe because he got sent one to do a review on? Joe Pie has a cheapo homemade idea here at the 5.00 minute mark, but you have to glue it to the job. But you can buy a lot of glue for $149. |
