3 forum posts | Good Evening, can someone help please ? I have my mill, which has been overhauled , has run happily with its new motor on the VFD, starting and stopping via the VFD control panel. When the mill was built back in the 1960's it had a 2 speed motor operated via a switch with high low and off ... 134 forum posts 38 photos | Donyou have the instructions. They will tell you which menu settings and which terminals. The settings will be different for momentry buttons vs switches. Ive done it recently. I assume it differs by model. Mine was a cheap AT1 (£60). |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | By all means, the motor should run on either speed from the VFD. However any change-over switch should not be operated while the VFD is energising the motor. Switching between VFD and the motor may damage the VFD in those circumstances (read the manual?). You would clearly get more power, at any given lower speed, while running on the lower speed windings. That is a clear advantage. That is with all the programmable settings (apart from overload current settings and perhaps one or two others) still being available. Edited By not done it yet on 09/11/2020 08:32:05 |

221 forum posts 12 photos | Hello Jerry, to set up the VFD for two speed operation set PD080 to 2 (multispeed operation) that will bring the multispeed terminals into operation. The speed is then selected by terminals 5 and 6, you only need to use terminal 5 for two speed operation. If you connect it to common the drive speed will be set by PD086, with no connection to common the speed will be set by PD003. Michael |

3 forum posts | Michael thank you so much I have ended with a similar way before seeing your instructions ,but to get an 'off' needed to bring the 'forward' terminal into play, along with the @common' 'SPH' and 'SPL' terminals so in 'off' there is no feed to either of the speed terminals or forward terminal. in high there is feed to forward and to to SPH . Likewise in low there is again a feed to forward , and then to SPL . So the VFD in either speed gets told to run and what frequency... And it works . What do you think Regards Jerry |

14 forum posts | You could have a pot. wired on each switch position to give a quick change to a known different speed. I have my milling machine setup like this, a three position switch with a pot. on each switch. I can setup it up for when I am drilling / tapping a lot of holes, one position is drilling speed, another is another drilling speed, the last is tapping speed. |

221 forum posts 12 photos | Hello Jerry, the speed selection sets the internal frequency reference for the drive, it does not make the drive run. To make the drive run you energise the forward terminal and de-energise it to stop it. You shouldn't need to change the feed to SPH or SPL to stop it. I don't have a Huanyang drive to verify that, I'm just going off the drive manual. Happy that you have a working solution, Michael. |
