Good morning,

I need some 1/16" x 1/4" Bright Mild Steel Flat Bar. I've tried searching with every combination, but to no avail. Any suggestions where I can source such material? A couple of 12" lengths will suffice.

Thank you.

At that thickness I would slice it from sheet material.

Several ME suppliers stock this; eg. Reeves, Macc, but currently temporarily closed.

Thank you Martin,

I had considered that, but the idea of straightening and finishing led me down the route of finished stock.

M-machine supply that size (cut from sheet). They are still trading - or at least they were very recently. Giv'em a call??

Ah!  Postings crossed.  I now see that you have already considered that option.

Regards,

Phil.

Live Steam Models ( Little Eaton ) appear to list it on their cat. page 09/101. £1.00 / metre.

I believe they are trading postal only at the moment. Not sure of that or if it's from sheared sheet.

You could enquire 01332 830811.

Macc Models are closed as you say, but the notice on the website says only for this week - Perhaps they may reopen soon enough for you?

In my earlier post, I didn't mean to imply that Reeves was also shut, they appear to be still open, and were doing free p&p. Small section 1/16" BMS flat that I have purchased from them some years ago was not sheared strip. More recent purchase from MACC was also not sheared.

I had the same problem with the same size some years ago. If you want to come down to the wrong side of kent, i will sort you out with a couple of foot, but i wont post it at the moment.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Macc Models have just what I want. Guess I'll have to wait a week (or so). Oh well, on goes the kettle again.

Damn, I just made a sizeable order from Macc. They weren't showing as closed when I ordered. Just a message saying there might be a delay. Wonder if I get my order. 😕

Just out of curiosity, do you mean the other side of the Wantsum?

You might be able to get ground flat stock, aka gauge plate, in that size. Lots on eBay and other suppliers.

For that quantity gauge plate shouldn’t be too expensive,I think M Machine have it.

Does anyone know what grade of flat mild bar reeves and macc supply? I can't see any description of this on their listings.

Ask reeves or macc? I’m sure they should be able to advise - straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak!
