I wanted to do something practical to help forum members, so I thought I'd make The Home Workshop Dictionary available free.

The book particularly aims to help new recruits to the hobby who are overwhelmed by the huge number of specialist terms in the hobby, without having to google and answer. Although it's written like a dictionary, hopefully there are enough contentious definitions, tips, light hearted and unexpected or obscure entries to make it an entertaining read.

I'm making one of my e-books available free for the Kindle. Amazon let me run a maximum five-day free promotion.

They give times in Pacific time, but I think this means you will be able to get it from 7:00am GMT on Wednesday for five days.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT HERE

Please feel free to download and keep it with no obligation (although it would be great if anyone wants to buy a paper copy or leave a review!)

I have several ebooks on Amazon, if this proves useful to folks I'll run promotions on the others, one at a time.

I hope you enjoy it,

Neil

Neil:

Respect!

I look forward to the others as I already have a paid-for edition of the Dictionary.

Hi Neil, just had a look and it wants to charge £3.60 unless I take Kindle unlimited subscription out! What have I done wrong?

I, too, failed to "read the question" and thought that Amazon were pulling a fast one and trying to get me to subscribe to Kindle Unlimited so I passed on the Dictionary.

However, while I was on I noticed that Amazon had the Norden engine book written by Neil and since I am slowly getting together the wherewithal to build one, I bought that book instead.

Now that I see that I had jumped the gun on the dictionary I'll get that tomorrow. Thanks Neil.

Thanks very much Neil, also bought the Norden, should keep me out from under the feet of 'er indoors for a little while

If anyone has any hassle trying to wade through Amazon's attempts to flog a Prime trial to get to the Kindle for PC download link, go to the reviews, a couple of people who have had the same grief as me have posted a direct link for the software.

Hi, thanks Neil, I haven't looked at it yet, but it is in my Kindle Cloud, apparently.

Regards Nick.

Bought it a bit back but there seems to be a few words missing - for example under Blank you have defined

(1) A circular metal form, the starting point for machining many circular parts. (2) A sheet-metal part to be finished by further working such as punching.

Where is the definition for Blank I have picked up the hot end of the silver solder and Blank I have dropped that casting on my foot?

And no doubt many, many more!

Seriously though - A very generous gesture Neil. We all need as much as possible to keep our minds on normality and what we enjoy doing in these strange and worrying times!

Thanks Neil a very good book , nice to have a reference when I think what does that mean?

Started reading your book on 3D Printing, might get brave and buy a printer when the virus business has gone away.
