Don,t forget Pete Waterman, O gauge, Len Crane, champion sidecar motor crosser and full size steam man, allegedly Roger Daltry of the Who is into railways as well. Takes all sorts I suppose.

Looks like he's managed to squeeze in a couple of blast furnaces too.

Rumour has it that Paul Merton and Robert Plant have been seen at garden railway shows over the past couple of years.

That is railway modelling to a very high standard I think, you don't see too many layouts with that level of realism every inch of it is full of detail. He obviously has a very good eye for it just look at the scene at the station entrance in the last photo with the yellow cabs and all the people and how busy that looks, very realistic.

I take my hat off to him very impressive indeed.

First Cut Is The Deepest was actually a reference to Rod's experience using a lathe.

Can anyone else work in Rod Stewart song titles or lyrics into model engineering or model railway puns?

For many years George Sellios' Franklin and South Manchester which I visited about five years ago was considered to be one of the finest model railroads in the world but nowadays YouTube has plenty of competitors.

Seen "Maggie May" walking down the street,She seems "Forever young". She had a "Passion" for a "Young Turk."She was"Taking the" Down Town train" to the "All for One " store. "Do You think I'M sexy? "Tonight's the night." "Have I told You Lately", "Your in My heart?"

He must have been turning a thread....

Just to add a little more about Sir Rod's involvement with model railways, it seems he has helped out financially with the Market Deeping Model Railway Club

I also read that he had asked Jools Holland and Roger Daltrey (both railway modellers) to do the same.

Sir Rod donated £10K to them, to help,with rebuilding.

To have recovered so much work in such a short time means that the members have worked long and hard to recover..

Only a few weeks after the vandalism, they had a small display at the street fair in a village just north of Bourne.

All credit to them.

Go and visit them at The Festival of Model Railways, if you can, 7th and 8th December in Peterborough.

Elsewhere I commented that he obviously has a fine eye for colour.
