![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | Just had another thought. Try looking for a local sign maker as house signs and nameplates are about that size. If in Devon try Notice-it in Topsham. Only thing is the lead up to Christmas is busy for them as a people think of easy presents. |

![]() 3445 forum posts 62 photos | Oak is quite acidic to the extent of tending to rust steel screws used as fixings so be aware if you do use that. If the engine base is directly in contact then a good sealing of shellac and wax or varnish should protect your engine. regards Martin |

Thanks for the offer Derek I said oak as I needed a light colour but any light / yellow colour would do as engine is black. I have no woodworking skills or equipment so was looking to buy a finished base. Would have happily paid up to £20 for a bespoke one.. Bill Edited By Bill Chugg on 21/11/2018 08:24:56 Bill I will have a look to see what other wood I have. I definitely have Oak if you want that just for postage. I can cut to size and finish. But as stated above Oak can play effect metal if both are left bare due to the Tannin in it. I turned some wet Oak once and had to clean the lathe straight afterwards and even then the metal started turning black. |
