ME Shows in UK for private exhibitors

No doubt by now, most people will know that there will not be a 2019 Bristol ME Exhibition.

I have been going over from Ireland to Bristol for a few years as a private exhibitor and was wondering what other similar exhibitions are around for private exhibitors. Ideally, I would like to attend a show that is on for more than one day to make the travelling worthwhile.

Any suggestions (and perhaps an invitation)? I don't do hot fog.

I guess there's the Midlands show. That's four days. It's about 100km further to travel if you're coming via Holyhead, but not much more if you are flying.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mark, but they do not accept private entry displays.

Perhaps one of the ME clubs would invite you to be a tempory " Member" for the purposes of the exhibition?

Ok, I'd assumed that they were amenable to private displays from the appearance of model fairground organs in the eatery and the chaps outside in the rain with their traction engines.

How much does it cost to hire an Antonov?

Cost not the problem, Mark. Its the private landing strip that stops me! Ha Ha.

I'm a bit puzzled by this; private entries ARE accepted for this although the date for entering has passed.

I wouldn't have thought that any exhibition could afford to exclude private entrants as a matter of policy.

Dave the Midlands will take models in the competition or display classes, only thing is I doubt you would be able to run the engines in the same was as you were at Bristol and would not get your own bit of table.

Would a Chinook be enough, instead? Only need a patch, not a strip.

I am looking for a similar type of event to Bristol where I can have my own space and run engines if desired. As you say JB, the Midlands show is not like that. Looks like I'm out of luck.

Now that the Bristol Show has gone, like so many other shows; you and I and some others are all looking for somewhere else where we can have our own table and a chance to run engines.

They hope to run a new format show in 2020.

As someone who has a constant tide of emails, I can vouch that it is not always easy to keep on top of them all.

For example, Outlook has this habit of highlighting the next unread email when you open it. After a short period it marks it read, even if you haven't actually read it. It's very easy for emails to get overlooked this way as I know to my cost.

Also, sometimes you read an email and can't deal with it straight away. If you make a mistake in marking it (flagging, categorising or just marking it unread again) you probably won't find it again and deal with it.

It isn't unusual for emails to be classed as spam as well. I've had emails from my wife and even from me to one of my own email accounts diverted to 'junk'.

It's also possible people are on holiday etc. Even in the 20th century some people don't reply to work-related emails in their personal time and also prefer not to put up 'I am on holiday' for obvious security reasons!

Not excuses, but reasons why sometimes emails get missed despite people's best intentions. I try to look through for emails I've missed at the end of each week, and sometimes discover ones that are even older.

My advice is never be too quick to judge if an email goes unanswered; let's face it few people will deliberately ignore a genuine message. Just send a polite reminder with a copy of the original.
