I see that stock is being sold off at Maplin before they close for good. I had a look at my local store this morning and left with nothing, but there were a few bargains for some things (unfortunately nothing I needed ).

Some things for the 3D printer people are available and 70% off components. Perhaps there might be a final give away just before the doors finally close, so might be worth another visit later.

I visited my local store last Sunday, wanted some 32/0.2 wire in Black and Yellow.....They had the Yellow but no Black, so I decided not to bother even though it was price reduced...but came away with two 250 g reels of 26swg en cu wire, with 50% off....bargain!...

I guess they are attempting to recover as much cash as they can before closing up for good....

It seems Maplin lives again, I just received an email with my introductory discount code for their new online store.

Thanks for that, my old account didn't carry over, so had to re-register.

Same email here - sadly there's nothing in their store that would interest me now.

sad

I have had a bit of a browse now and I would agree Peter, they seem to be convinced of a need for gadgety type stuff at the expense of the the component side of the business.

Just catering to the current demographic and it's happening in all things in my experience. Wrinklies don't figure any more. I'm sure my Dad would have said the same thing in his day ... and Gran'dad.

There wasn’t much of interest for me for a few years before they went under. Useful if you needed a component  same day. It has not been difficult to live without the local store.

Hi David,

Many thanks for your email. The components side of the business will be back very soon. As we are a new setup, separate from the previous Maplin business (shut down last year), we will be sourcing electrical components from new suppliers and continue to increase our range as these are still early days for us having launched just 1 month ago.

The demand for components are huge and we will definitely be sourcing them very soon.

Best Regards,

Mustafa Tariq

Hi I was just wondering if the components side of the business is to be resurrected as well as the tech side as I used the parts switches and electronic parts as well.
