Although listed as a Boxford I think this is a Hercus.

And here is a marking gauge for our friends down under.

'fraid this thread will lose all meaning in a few days when the items time out or the seller amends the pictures.

Not sure about the marking gauge but I would have thought the Boxford was for our friends down under smiley

Lol. The bit that got me, with the lathe attachment, was that the unsure charlieonechop was able to determine it was in 'g/condition' (is that good, great or grubby?). I'll hang around and see what it goes for.laugh

It seems I am not the only one that doesn't read all posts every time Bazyle but this is a short thread.

I did realise it's a Hercus 'cause the photo's are upside down. devil I can pronounce cud or boxford upside down. I just don't understand how the people in Oz can read or remain on their feet. Surely they should fall off.

I can but try. indecision

Super precision drill on the end of this lathe bed. Possible use for milling? One can but admire some people's optimism.

... and it looks like the topslide has protected the bed from most of the [hacksaw] parting-off marks.

I'm always nosing for lathes that could be a compact bench lathe and found this one

**LINK**

I'd have to be mad to take it on but I am at times. The way I read the listing I assumed it had been run so asked about the gears in the headstock - no idea was the reply. If I'd bought it to restore that would the only thing I would look at closely.

There are 16 people watching this one. Maybe because they can't believe the price.

That's a real oddity, John

Worm drive on the motor, and what appears to be further reduction to the headstock.

... I wonder what the spindle speed might be question

Perhaps the 15 people watching know what it's for. Lathe though ???

blush I'm annoyed with myself for even looking at the Churchill. frownIf it was closer I would go remove the headstock cover and take a look. As if I haven't enough to sort out already.

A few years ago I purchased a model diesel engine.

It was listed in 'Toys and Collectibles' as a 'MOD' engine. So I took a look.

It was an Oliver Tiger Mk III factory modified, very collectible and ideal for racing vintage team-race models.

The only markings on the engine lugs were 'MOD' .

I was the only bidder.

I'm just here to make John Stevenson cry.

Adding screwcutting does up the value a bit

I just hope the buyer doesn't turn up here - then we will see a grown man cry...
