There are some areas of the country where that amount of money would buy a house.crying

It does look nice in a typical Victorian Engineering sort of way though.

A beautiful machine indeed.

I suppose if they wanted to display it in exhibition today it would have to be run on compressed air and proper bright yellow sheet-metal guards would have to encase that flywheel and all those flailing connecting rods, eccentric straps, ball governors and so forth.

It would make a nice basis for a smaller model though.

I see they've used hex head nuts. I couldn't find a date for the 'switch' from square to hex?

It would fit on the sideboard .........just , might need to strengthen the legs a bit though.

There may be enough photo's for Jason to carve out one from scratch.

Interesting flywheel construction:

The engraving (thanks MichaelG) shows a simple cast flywheel. In fact, lots of ornamentation for Lady Stephanie constructors to consider.

Thanks guys,

Rod

Hello All.

Two very interesting photos by Michael Gilligan.

This looks familiar, is this Papplewick pumping station (outside Nottingham) by any chance?

Alan.

Its already been done a few times, I'll see if I can find a pic of the twin beam model.

Besides I've already got photos and measurements for a couple of Prestons other engines to tide me oversmiley
