Myford ML10 tumbler reverse

Could anyone help me with drawings or a photo with a ruler in shot of a tumbler reverse for an ML10 please

I hope it does, but: So far as I am aware the ML10 screwcutting arrangement is fairly basic, as described on p10, here.

Not long after I bought my Speed 10 version I bought a tumbler reverse from an independent supplier. That was a long time ago and I doubt whether such an item is still available. It did involve cutting a little bit out of the change wheel cover and may well have been based on the ME article mentioned. It has been on my lathe ever since and works very well

If it is any use I can take a picture. I'm afraid I have lost all details of the original supplier, but there may be somebody out there who has one they don't need.

I think this is the one Brian is talking about, and probably the same as mentioned by Doug. In the letters in ME no 3591.

If I remember correctly Dave Goodwin was the supplier of a neat tumbler reverse accessory for the ML10; I don't think he supplies it now but might be worth asking him?

There are a lot of interesting mods for an ml10 over the years

From the index 3837 has a screwcutting dog clutch and 3978 has an award winning micro-mill

Robin is quite correct - Dave Goodwin did indeed supply such an item.

The only modification to the machine was to cut a recess in the change wheel cover.

Worthwhile if you can find one.

They provided an extra stud for cutting left hand threads rather than a tumbler reverse. They show the arrangement on lathes co uk.

If the lathe is being set up for a specific thread this isn't that inconvenient really.

Yuck that is the clamp up bearing model rather than the later one which used taper rollers which can be replaced fairly easily.

I always wanted to add a tumbler reverse to my ML10, buying or making one.

Didn't know about the Dave Goodwin one, but another was sold by mr. Dave Noble:

when I contacted him (2010), he hadn't any of them anymore and subsequent requests to buy some form of drawing got no replies.

Another model of tumbler was described by mr R.G.Seiman on Model Engineer (19 october 1979) in the following interesting article::

After seeing the model shown in Robbo's post, I think I have no more excuses and I have to decide which one I'll make.

Yes - quite right Dave NOBLE it was - my excuse is advanced years and knowing a Dave Goodwin in the dim and distant past !

It was a useful mod - especially as it was possible to select the mid position and remove the drive to the lead screw. That done it was much quieter and, by disconnecting the lead screw by means of the lead screw clutch, a fine hand feed to the carriage could be made by means of the leadscrew hand wheel.

Still remember my ML10 with affection!

I've got one of these Noble tumbler reverse levers...but with stripped wheels! Can anyone point me towards where I could find replacements?

I've found a couple of 20 wheels on ebay - an 18 and 20 tooth set were being sold for the ML7 and it occurred to me that I could ask for two 20 wheels. I've had to go with a metal 25 tooth wheel but I think with the plastic 20 wheels I've got I'll be ok.
