It's these little bits that take the time, but if you don't do them now, they never get done. Ian S C |

The Lady Stephanie engine runs fine with just a link between the beam and the piston rod , so why bother with a Watt parallel motion ? (which I trying to get right on my ST beam project ) ! regards PHIL

![]() 145 forum posts 41 photos | Hi, after reading the above posting I have decided to build the Lady Stephanie beam engine. I have all of the EIM build details from 1981/82 except one issue. I dont have June 1982. Can anybody help me? If you have the magazine and want to sell it I will gladly buy it for a reasonable price (unlike E Bay!!!). Or if someone would photocopy the relavent pages and e mail them to me I will be eternally grateful. Please contact me via the forum. Thanks, Alan.

11 forum posts | I built Lady Steph about 10 years ago. She ran very nicely on air so I stripped her down for painting and left the parts in a box for a few months. When I went to re-erect, the eccentric strap and rod were nowhere to be found. Meanwhile I had donated the plans to someone on this forum. I assumed I had lost the parts somewhere under the bench and that they would eventually turn up, but having recently moved house and cleared out the workshop they are still missing. So... does anyone have the of the eccentric strap and rod that they could help me with? She is now all painted and pretty in a display cabinet, but would look a lot better running. 11 forum posts | Thanks John. I'm still getting my new shop set up so certainly no urgency - it's been at least a decade since I lost the old one so another few months (years?) won't be a big deal. Anyway a scan or copy of the eccentric and rod plan would be great. |

1 forum posts | Hi, Does anyone know what the two 6ba holes are for they are in the cabinet top directly central under the two main bearing pedestals? Also why is the brass bearing on the fork made from square stock? Many Thanks Mike |

99 forum posts 77 photos | Bother. I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I built Lady Stephanie recently. No problems but the supplied drawings were almost unreadable, so I used the magazine articles. There is a funny story (now). The entablature casting was terribly distorted so I sent it back to the address on the drawings. No response after a while so I phoned Reeves. They said that they moved from that address many years ago so my parcel was lost! They refused to send me a replacement until I gave them the original. Despite the fact that they had given me the wrong address they were unrepentant and I had to give up in the end. So I prefabricated the entablature myself in the end and put Reeves on my list of non-preferred suppliers 🙁🙁 |

20 forum posts | Mike, The tapped holes are to hold the 'shoes' in place that the main pedestals sit on. The shoes have small lips for wedges to lock and adjust the pedestals position, this is all to replicate the original (full size) construction. In the full size engine these 'shoes' would be part of the top plate casting, then the erector would only have to chisel and file a small area for the pedestals, the wedges would allow him to adjust the position of the crankshaft to align with the rest of the engine. Hope this helps. S

Hi Alan is this what you need? I took the photo from my plans, if it's not clear I can scan them. My lady stephanie is still a bix of castings and lumps of metal, one day I might get round to making it! |

11 forum posts | Thanks Ian, that's just what I needed. Apologies for the slow reply - I had a bunch of Covid related family issues lately and only just got around to checking the forum. You should definitely get around to making it sometimes, it's an interesting build and makes a very attractive model. |

381 forum posts 102 photos | No problem Alan glad to help out. Hope the covid issues get sorted! I've got my first jab booked in the next couple of weeks! Can't see me starting the lady stephanie any time soon, I've been making the stothert and Pitt beam engine for what seems like a lifetime! But John carruthers model is really nice and could provide some inspiration. IanJ |
