![]() 1946 forum posts 179 photos | Hi Michael, Thanks for that link, it will be a very useful site for me. How marvellous is this forum where I can pick up all sorts of gems as well as modelling tips. Hi Chris, I wasn't criticising your yellow background I was just responding to your 'GRRR' and trying to make suggestions as I have not had the overlapping ads problem since the link problem was sorted and I don't have the editing problen you seem to have as I often have to edit my text without problem. The comments about readability of the text on yellow background is interesting as that is how we used to make text more readable for students with dyslexia, i.e. use yellow or blue paper to print on. It worked well.(I have just had to edit several spelling mistakes with no problem) Best regards Terry |

![]() 23121 forum posts 1360 photos | Chris, For obvious reasons, I am reluctant to insert snippets of HTML here; but I hope this will be safe ... I have added some quotation marks, which should invalidate the HTML punctuation. Although I cannot explain how it got there; the mechanism for displaying your yellow background is easy to find. If you look through the HTML for the page, you will find a "div style" instruction which says "="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 191); " 255, 255, 191 is the yelllow colour that you are "using" ... and this instruction appears to be exclusive to threads that contain your posts. MichaelG. . Note: in Safari, there is a "View Source" menu item in IE, press "F12" in Firefox there is, I believe, something rather clever.

I must be sending out the wrong impressions, sorry guys. Let me state I am so pleased anybody is taking any notice of me and my problems. So thanks for any comment, even the tounge in cheek ones What is strange is that I was having a conversation Thursday with another member and we were discussing delelopments in science and the coloured lenses helping people with Dyslexia came up. I never thought about my yellow text at the time but now you bring it up it makes some sense. |

![]() 1946 forum posts 179 photos | Hi Chris, We used to provide yellow and blue gels for students with dylexia to place over printed matter which simulated coloured backgrounds for the text. It worked well for many with that problem. Regards Terry Edited By Terryd on 17/11/2012 09:28:07 |

I guess a workaround is for me to only ever quote another post (like this one) |

Just a quick question.
When I am typing in this box at the bottom left is body - div and sometimes span or even strong.
Who knows what they mean ?

I must admit I'm relieved to know the yellow box is accidental. I was worried that Chris was the sort of person who writes to their MP in green pen... I think they are HTML format commands: strong=bold, span = justify (I think). Neil |

I am going to write to MHS and complain about this insult (In green of course)
PS re the Yellow, I notice when I reply to a post in the bottom left of the box is written body and the letter P and of course no Yellow, a clue maybe ? Edited By chris j on 18/11/2012 15:57:02 |

2878 forum posts 248 photos | Last night I was also getting a bit miffed with the banners. At the time, I had BearSoft as the search engine on IE 8 running under XP on a notebook computer. Tonight I got rid of the BearSoft search engine and the banners aren't a problem. Does this help ??

Hi cris, In IE, try Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Browsing/Automatically recover from page layout errors with compatibility mode Ouch! You can also add model-engineer.co.uk to the list under Tools/ompatibility view settings/ Or for a test, set compatibility mode from Tools/ompatibility View: Hope that helps. Kai
Kai Thanks but if I can I'd rather not run a microsoft product on my mac if I can avoid it. I find they are so intrusive. I wonder if the next update to this software version might fix the problem as it's very annoying. I am trying to find some clues on the interweb. I may go into the applestore tomorrow to see if I can get some help Chris Chris. It must be something that you're doing (or fault with your Mac), to make the yellow background show up because a) it's obviously not happening for anyone else and b) it's not happening everytime you make a post, so it would seem probable that you're doing something different on occasions, like cutting and pasting from a Mac application, or something like that. Running Windows 8 here with Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 and no problems. Martin.

To reply to the editior's question of 16th November, this post still obscured, and quite a few others. The position of the right side banner seems to vary. Thanks Nick
