Also watched 'Metal' and enjoyed the tech content, but Oh! the camera work!!!angry

Were I able to, I would nail the director, cameraman/men and editor by their ears to a vertical board and make them watch 'Rififi' for a week until they learned the value of STATIC camera work! The constant micro second shots and idiotic, unstable panning made my eyes hurt and spoiled a potentially interesting programme. Seems to go with the territory nowadays.

Exit left, ranting.

The modern world we live in Bill.

There MUST be continuous action, no matter what.
Didn't bother me for once this time though.

"Metal" - now you're talking, that's a real programme for grown-ups. Four star value.

Thoroughly enjoyable, took me right back to my days working at the Redcar Iron and Lackenby BOS (Basic Oxygen Steelmaking) works.

The Bessemer process was tought in college as the forrunner to the BOS method used at Lackenby

Channel 5 tonight at 7pm, a programme about transporting the A4 locomotives across the Atlantic to the NRM.

Not able to watch it myself, but will try to catch it later.

I saw that last night. It was interesting to see how they moved these big lumps (as that's all they are now). I didnt like the way the Americans had painted all the bare metal parts silver on their A4.. it looked awful, but then I guess thats all the attention its ever received in over 40 years.

Thanks for alerting us to that Jason. I hadn't seen it before despite watching more BBC4 than anything else. The swan and the boy writing were particularly impressive. If anyone wants to watch it then it is repeated at 2.20 am tonight.

I wonder if there are those among you who do not know of this resource?

Sorry, not sure how to do a 'link'

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/RAILDATE/

I find it very useful.

I receive it every week by email.

Hi Roy

Useful to know so here is how:-

Open the page you want to link to, highlight the contents of the address bar in your browser and "copy"

In your post  place your cursor and highlight the word where you want the link to appear viz; RAILDATE and click on the symbol on the bottom line of the box you post in ( I think it looks like a blue bubble car) paste the address you copied into the box that appears.

Thats it !

Easy peasy when you know how!

Thanks for the info by the way!

Regards

Norman

Oops!

Just noticed that I failed to mention it was on TV iPlayer.

Roy,

Turned my back on Yahoo as under Marissa Mayer it's been made worthless now. Can only 'find' five groups I'm registered with.
