Hi Martin, strictly speaking you are thinking correct, the answer is in this **LINK**

I'm not ranking him alongside anyone or anyone alongside anyone else for that matter. I like a lot of his music but not all of it and that goes for many other artists also.

John, I guess he could have a case for an arguement.smile d

Regards Nick.

Gentlemen, you are still getting it wrong calling it singing. It is more a strangulated yodel, and that is with or without Roxy. Singing is what Elvis did.wink 2.

Cheers Derek.

I originally started this post " what is the point of an avatar ", and in two days it has evolved into " Elvis died on the bog ", this is better than watching Kylie Minogue on the telly !

Hmmmm Richard

If pushed I think I prefer watching Kylie Minogue on the box over Elis on the bog!

Hello N ,

Hi Derek, yes Elvis tracks were quite a popular request when my late brother and I started our mobile Disco in the early 70's, but in the latter part of the 70's when the two well known films with John T' in them came about, Elvis didn't rate so much as the latest Disco tracks, which were forever being released. There are quite a few Elvis tracks that I do like though.

Martin, Elvis wasn't that full of $%1! was he?

Regards Nick.

Elvis! Kylie!

What about /real/ singers like Ian Gillan, Sandy Denny, the late Ronnie James Dio, Paul Robeson or Maltloaf?

Neil

Edit: Maltloaf???? This theread must be getting to my brain... I won't correct it, the posting is far more fun as it stands. I hope the moderators don't wipe us out too soon, we aren't spoiling a serious discussion!

Isn't this thread an example of the increase in entropy, which is science and science is closely related to engineering so therefore the thread is well on topic. wink

Just seen Elvis in the crowd at Glastonbury, snacking on meatloaf, boppin' to Seasick Steve and looking remarkably well, all things considered.

As John Travolta has been mentioned, then I'd say we're still on topic because he starred in Grease. It doesn't get any more engineering related than that.

Martin.

Hi, Derek, Bing only had three UK hits before I was around but I was on the drawing board by the time his Silent Night was in the UK top ten, I do actually have his White Chrismas on a 10" 78 allthough that didn't reach the charts here untill 1977 and of course it was a 7" vinyl by then.

I was approching the grand age of 2 when the Ink Spots had thier only UK hit in 1955 with Melody of Love. So yes they were only just before my time I suppose.

Meatloaf beefburgers, now there's a thought. I knew the mention of JT had an engineering connection teeth 2 and of course him and his mates did that old banger up in SNF.

Regards Nick.

No Elvis died wrapped up in a super giant Mac and trying to eat his way out, well he is american.. Think horseburger... and how about mike bubblegum when they constantly play him in the pub thinking they are relaxing us or what...and the little bimbo's behind the bar think it is "cool"
to play at full blast.

Avatars they are a bit of fun they in many ways show your personality look at Fizzy's and his new family. Mine shows  my dogs on other forums I have my father looking out of the cab of a B1 called "Wildebeets"  me well in the background foremans dog up front.
Have fun
Bob

Age 2 in 1955? - you're just a young whipper snapper then!

Music ? No decent rock since Pink Floyd. We are Grandbrat sitting ( and running around the countryside with/ after them) this W/E whilst their parents are at Glastonbury - better them than me! For live performances these days I much prefer comfy Concert halls.

OK then here is my contribution to the "On Topic" AVATAR theme. I am persuaded to add one! I note that it needs to be "approved" before it is displayed - it's of my best mate so I trust that it will be. Watch this space!

Regards

Norman

This has nothing at all to do with this thread so it should fit in well. It's a Glaswegion joke.

Question "What's the difference between Bing Crosby and Walt Disney?

Answer "Bing sings and Walt disney!"
