I have nothing but praise for Arc Euro. I have been dealing with them for very many years. Long before i knew about the internet I was buying stuff from the shows, and since they stopped doing the shows, via the internet. Not once in all that time have i had cause to complain. Just a happy customer. |

Thank you to OLDIRON, and KETAN for your concern. Oldiron, i do have access to the internet via a laptop brought to me by my eldest son. It is a bit of a life saver as the days seam very long even with it. Ketan, i am really very sorry that you have now lost a very happy, long standing customer, however i still have mates in the hobby and i will continue to recomend your services for as long as i am able. Regards. Derek. |

Sorry Neil, but i am now bedridden and living in a nursing home. It is frightening how things can change in just a short space of time. In the last 12 months i first lost my wife, then my home, workshop, and everything we had worked for in the last 50 years. |

I will be 82 in September and due to renew mine for the 5th time, however i won't bother as i would not feel safe driving these days. I changed my mind and did renew it. I thought it is a good means of identification if i ever need it..I did it on line and it arrived 4 days later. Dek. |

Neil. I sent you an Email on August 29th about the workshop photo Comp. As i have not had a reply i think either, you never received it, or you might have thought i was being sarcastic about the time it might take to publish it should it be OK. If the latter is the case, then i apologise. It was never intended to be sarcastic, just a statement of facts as i am 82 years old and in very poor health. Please let me know if you never received the Email and i will send it again. Regards, Derek.

Sorry to hear of your situation Geoff and i too wish you all the best. Although not the same problems as yours, i to have health problems that prevent me from getting to my workshop and doing anything in there. After spending some time slowly becoming brain dead watching daytime TV, i treated myself to a mini lathe and have set up a small workshop in a spare bedroom. It is still a struggle to do things up there but i am determined to carry on trying as long as possible. Dek. |

I seem to recall that shortly after privitisation, Yorkshire water sold 2 reservoirs and bought a large hotel in Wales so the directors could have free hols there.

One source of energy that is constantly ignored is muscle power, we can't even put screws in now without power. When i first moved to Crewe, many years ago, i was amazed to see the number of pedal cycles in use. the 3 main roads from one side of town to the other were so full of them there was no room for cars, they were riding 4 abrest on all three roads. The car parks at Rolls-Royce and Crewe railway works each held no more than 20-30 cars and were seldom full. The car park at what is now Bentley is bigger than the rest of the factory and is always full. 90% of the workers live no more than 3 miles from the factory !!! Just think of all the work that was once done with hand tools that is now done with power tools, that is a lot of electricity charging up that lot. Dek. |

Thread: Is there a special tool for this? |
06/07/2022 10:01:55 |
In my former business making display equipment, i used these screws, which were available as self tapping screws, or metric threads. Two sizes of tool were available for the different sizes of screw and i bought them from RS. I still have a few of each type of screw and the tools to use them but no longer have any need. Dek. |

Personally i am past caring about how much info about me gets into the public domain. I already have a whole chapter about me in a book about early rock 'n' roll groups, and more to come on that subject. Do tell! Neil A very long story Neil, so i will give you the very short version. As a 16 year old i started a skiffle group, then went on to play in a few local rock 'n' roll groups before becoming a road manager for Brian Epstein. During this time i worked with just about every big name pop star in the world, and went twice around the world, working in very many countries. After a few years of this, i found myself looking down the wrong end of a shotgun so took the easy way out and got married. I then started my own garage business doing mainly custom body and paint work. 10 years later I got divorced, got married again without the shotgun and lived happily ever after. |

Will the Photos and description be published as it may put some members off as they may not want them put into public domain as in the magazines I would think that is the idea Derek, otherwise why would Neil need a 300-400 word description !!! Personally i am past caring about how much info about me gets into the public domain. I already have a whole chapter about me in a book about early rock 'n' roll groups, and more to come on that subject. I also had an article published in the British Horological Journal some while ago, so it is a bit late for me to go all shy. Your name isn't Derek as well is it by any chance ? SPOT ON THERE Jon. |
