GRR I just lost about four lines of text when I clicked back to add a full stop.
This software is as old as me !!
No real problems exept the yellow background and loosing text
I'm running Apple 10.82 and Safari 6.0.2
Can I recommend v Bulletin (no connection)
Chris

Hi Chris,

I don't have a problem like yours and no one else has the yellow background that you seem to get, it must be something to do with your own set up. Do you have the problem with other forums (yes 'forums' not 'fora' - the Anglicised version is the preferred one).

I have just clicked around my text to correct spelling and grammar mistakes - no problem. I don't think that the forum software, awful as it is, is to blame here.

Best regards

Terry

You mean you're not doing that deliberately?

Wow, you've just gone up a whole lot of points in my estimation.

Hi

I have noticed a marked reduction in this problem, so somebody is probably trying to fix it.

I am now running W7, IE9 and automatic compatibility mode, while I earlier used XP, Firefox and had a lot of problems with that, so I do not think this is soley a problem with IE or Firefox.

If somebody is trying to fix it, and David is interested enough to ask where the problem is occuring, I think we should help him with that process. That is, in my opinion, the friendly-forum-way of doing things.

English is not my native language, so I hope the intensions behind this post is not misunderstood. I really want to thank for this friendly, and to me very interesting forum.

Kai

Hi cris,

In IE, try

Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Browsing/Automatically recover from page layout errors with compatibility mode Ouch!

You can also add model-engineer.co.uk to the list under

Tools/ompatibility view settings/

Or for a test, set compatibility mode from Tools/ompatibility View:

Hope that helps.

Kai

Thanks but if I can I'd rather not run a microsoft product on my mac if I can avoid it.

I find they are so intrusive. I wonder if the next update to this software version might fix the problem as it's very annoying. I am trying to find some clues on the interweb.

I may go into the applestore tomorrow to see if I can get some help

We emailed Ben Rayment about this problem nearly a month ago and haven't had even the courtesy of a reply, let alone an explanation

Mike

I'm guessing that Ben Rayment is something to with the Website? If that is the case the lack of communication does not come as a surprise to me.

There is some form of one-way absorbent bog in the MHS management that prevents any information passing through (allegedly).

Hi chaps It dosent happen often to me But it dose happen from time to time, And when it hapens it realy pisses me off,But i have just given up complaining, It seems to me to complain is to cause somone a certian amount of aggro and in this instance i dont want to do that,So for as long as i can live with it i will continue to suffer in Silence, Chris i actualy like your yellow background, For me it seems to highlight the text and i can read your posts easier,

Regards

Thanks David,

Hope you have better luck this timewink

As a matter of interest I just took Ians answer on Compat mode on board and had a look on IE.

I was surprised to find I'd already done that - there it was listed -'Model Engineer'. Can't remember doing it but must have done when this topic surfaced previously. Obviously though hasn't made 'app'orth of diffrence' on this computer.

regards - Ramon

PS I too like your background Chris - it certainly does make the text stand out.

TBH I don't mind the yellow bit as I'm an old duffer (too smiley)
What really hacks me off is the loss of text.

Back in August, I posted this link to what [in my innocence] I believe may be the explanation of this persistent problem. ... it was given to me by someone with far more ability in the subject, but no particular interest in banging his own head against the wall.

I had hoped that someone [maybe even this forum's software designer] might follow it up; and either say "Nope" or "Eureka!". ... predictably, there was absolutely no response.

Perhaps one of our newer members would have the expertise to comment.
