Thread: Identifying small threads |

Hi Stuart, I happen to have a Ba thread gauge picked up cheap at a car boot sale, It is numbered among my most usefull bits of kit and i use it a lot, Like yourself i have a large quantity of smallish and tiny nuts n bolts and my thread gauge will probably grade over 50% of them,My eyesight is not what it was so i understand your problem, Another route you could take if you have enough taps is to make one using gauge plate, That way you could cover some of the other usefull threads as well, Best regards Charlie, |

Hi Chaps I buy a lota engineering related stuff from car boot sales,And from time to time i stumble across somone with a load of stuff in a box who says pick where you like a quid each If i like the look of contents of the box i useualy say ill give ya £20 quid for the box, Somtimes i have to raise the price a little but i useualy get it,I got such a box recently and the contents where interesting,There where a number of long tapered drills,Cant imagine what they are for?,Also a number of boxed Core drills which look like reamers,The question is can anyone tell me what a core drill will do that a reamer cant,The core drills are multifluted from three to six flutes some are slow flutes and some are fast,Most of em are 2mt,I look forward to your considered opinions, Thanks,

As i dont want to ofend all of you dedicated patriots who seem to be so concerned about the welfare of her Majesty head on coins of the realm,Perhaps the prospect of drilling a hole through the queens head is a trifle unsettling for your delicate sensabilities,So i have decided that in future when i need to drill a hole in the middle of a coin i will do it from the Tails side which should be kinder, At least she wont see it comming, |

20/04/2012 22:19:44 |
Hi Chaps, I dont know if any of you have noticed that the media have developed an interest in Sheds or man caves as they are describing them, Several times over recent weeks they have been the subject of a short feature on the telly in my part of thje world,Hilighting the many uses that sheds are put to not just model engineering,This gives me cause for concern,Are we about to suffer a shed tax, ????, |

Hi Chaps Thanks for your interest and your input, But i remain convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the steel is not plated,But i am not in any way disapointed with it, I suspected that it might have been hard stuff,But now that i know it will machine easily with ordinary hss tools i am delighted with it but there is still a little gremlin in my mind telling me that somthing is not quite as it should be,
