Ok, so after re-loading the website, I now have access to ME from issue 4153 onwards. I still await confirmation that my digitial subscription to MEW will be refunded as I no longer need to have a separate digital MEW subscription.

regards

Hi, there is still one small gap in the ME archive, Vol 196 issues 4274 & 4275.

Regards Nick.

Hi David,
This makes a subscription to MEW an even better bargain than before. I can now use the money to buy another present for the shed.

When the magazine thumps on the front door mat, it makes my day and usually set aside an hour for a coffee break and a quite read. I have been buying ME and MEW for over 60 years now and it it only gets better.

Many Thanks and keep up the good work.

Ray

Hi Nicholas
These two issues are missing from the archive.
I have asked for them to be added.

Thank you David for your advice about the 8 nunbers (but not the 1st two zero's) when enroling in to the Digital Archive. For some unknown reason when I loaded the numbers (by coping from the emil) the last two digets constently drop off. Following your advise I manually added the last two numbers digets, saved and - I was in.

However I only found "Model Engineer Archive Subscription" is this correct?.

Also please excuse the length of the personal email I sent requesting help with my "Digital Entry" problems. I was a little fustrated (maybe a lot)

Hi There
You only get the magazine you subscribe to.
If you want both you have to subscribe to both.

David,
Any chance of getting the printing sorted on MEW 180 ?
Print icon that's in 179 is missing in 180.

Better still to save all the hassle time and expense of these reader programs why not just upload the PDF, which exists as it goes to the printer as a PDF, into the archives.

John,

I don't think you would be happy with the PDF file that is ent to the
printers as it will be a large file that contains hi-res images and you also
have to consider image type (CMYK v RGB) transparency, colour matching and font
information.

However I also subscribe to Autosport magazine which gives two options for
digital editions, either a Flash-based viewer (better than the MEW one) and a
down-loadable PDF file.

The PDF is about 70MB for 100 pages.

Autosport is a weekly magazine with a much larger circulation than ME and
MEW and I'm sure thay can afford to spend a lot more on their digital issues.

Richard

Hi John
I will see if I can get the print icon on 179 removed for consistency.
PDFs are not down to me.
I am still waiting to be told who is in charge of digital issues.
regards David

Surely 179 is the only one that works in a sensible manner??

WHAT!!

This is surely a Mis-understanding!
We WANT the print facilities on all digital issues, removing it from the only magazine that it actually works on would merely exacerbate the situation.

Why is it so difficult to contact those who are responsible for digital issues.
I emailed Ben Rayment who is listed as being the Web Editor however I have to date not received a reply. I probably should not be surprised considering...

Looks like there is an option in the software to allow printing when the e-mag is created.

Just need to find who can switch it on not off.

Hi There
As far as I know printing a complete magazine is not allowed as it could be printed to a PDF.
179 is probably an error.
You can print individual pages.
I can't check about 179 until Monday.
regards David

Returning Ray to your opening comments to this thread, the index at

www.homews-mew-index.co.uk

would have shown up the issue numbers for your CNC router easily

Give it a try!

David,
I was being sarcastic, we were promised full printing, look back thru what was posted.
I'm also nonplussed at your remark about a complete mag is not allowed as it may be printed to a PDF?

Many already are and if you can print one page they you can print the whole mag to PDF.
