dont know

Not very different, I suppose

… except that the Aim ones are listed as Qty.3

MichaelG.

I think someone has been cutting and pasting carelessly when they were creating the various listings.

Head for their shop and search for collet, where you will find a variety of titles and descriptions.
Some specify 1pc, others have 3 in title and description, others no quantity in the title but 3 in the description, and some say 1pc in the description.
The ones with 3 in title and description seem to be more expensive.
I think some of the ads have been re-worded since I looked earlier today, so some of the corrections have been re-corrected incorrectly, or something like that.

They also list sets of 3 collets for router/trimmers, so that might be where they have confused themselves.

Bill

… as is so often the case, I wish I hadn’t bothered posting

The title of this thread uses the phrase ‘modestly priced’ … if I was particularly worried about the concentricity, I would be shopping for Schaublin or Regofix.

I ordered mine for use on a work-holding fixture on the BCA table … so provided they clamp-up, they should be ‘fit for purpose’ … and if they arrive in sets of three, they will [as JS frequently put it] be ‘fit for purse’

Sorry if I have wasted your time by sharing my ‘find’

MichaelG.

I know how you feel! yes

Interesting to know what the sizes on the packets relate to as 8.8cm seems quite large unless that is the size of the box of three rather than an individual collet and why is the one on the right smaller.

But of more interest is what are the collets like, get them unwrappedwink

Based upon a quick visual inspection of one collet …

These are plenty good-enough for my modest requirement, and I am delighted with my purchase.

Incidentally, the variation in quoted packet size remains a mystery

We could discuss resolution vs accuracy ‘til the cows come home … but I would rather not

Cutwel have an offer on their standard precision sets at the moment (.010mm runout): Cutwel

I ordered an ER32 set yesterday, arrived today. They look good and came in a reasonably nice mdf case, appear to be made by YG tools in Korea.

My OED defines it as"loosely denoting the association of spiritual and erotic practices".

Not sure whether I'm more shaken by the collets or you Michael.

wink

You must have ordered the last one I put in an order for a collet chuck and collet set and they are quoting 63 days for the ER32 set.

More generally … It has a lot to do with the pleasure of taking things slowly.

Edit: __ This may be the biggest ‘drift off topic’ yet seen on this forum … and I am happy for a Moderator to delete if the content is deemed inappropriate … but anyone seriously interested might find this enlightening:

[ very respectable source, but I think most of us are old enough to remember Mary Whitehouse ]
