1481 forum posts 149 photos | Nick: Glad to read that the subscription copies are getting through. Andrew: Ron possibly/hopefully gave you a good link Vidar: All I can do is apologise. Original plan was to send the catalogues out with all subscribers of MEW including overseas, but the people involved in overseas subscriptions were unable to accommodate on this occasion. In a way, it was a good thing, because costs to send out with MEW to U.K. subscribers and retail outlets have increased heavily since we last did this exercise in late 2016. We did consider sending the catalogue out to overseas customers ourselves, but at present we are unable to get the right deal which we seek with Royal Mail/fulfilment centres, so we are having to charge for handling and postage. If it helps, we are happy to send a catalogue out to you with your next order. You can order it with any other items you order. Ketan at ARC.,

Andrew: Ron possibly/hopefully gave you a good link Sadly not. I use Drill Service a lot, and they do LH stub drills and RH slow spiral stub drills, but not LH slow spiral stub drills. Andrew |

57 forum posts | Vidar: All I can do is apologise. Ketan at ARC., No worries, although I have to admit I don't get the reasoning about not making PDFs too. From a competition viewpoint a catalogue is important. As mentioned earlier I get several kgs of Hoffman Group catalogues each year, and over the years have led me to know their product ranges quite well. Thus whenever I need some product at that level they are my go-to supplier. Simply in part because the others never bothered sending me information about what they got - or if they did, they didn't include prices so kind of useless. (Maybe they don't think I don't care about prices? They are wrong. I want to know the product and price, compare my options, and just get on with it and order. I don't want to waste time asking and waiting around for quotes). Anyway, over the years those catalogues has earned Hoffman Group quite a bit of sales. I don't have a catalogue from your UK competitors either though, so that kind of leaves a level playing field. Which from your viewpoint might not be the best status I guess. While I got your attention: Thank you very much for good service since about 2006 or thereabouts I do hope your business thrives and do well!

![]() 3676 forum posts 82 photos | Mine arrived today, it is nice to have a paper copy to peruse. The website is excellent but it’s nice to just look through the paper version and of course you will find something you need that you didn’t need until you see it in the catalogue. I still have a copy of issue 5 which ran to 40 pages, it reminds me of the RS catalogue in the early seventies, I don’t know if they still do a paper catalogue but some years ago the factory post room got a pallet load of the multi volume monster it became. ![]() 2747 forum posts 123 photos | I've only just glanced through Catalogue 11 but I like it! Its set out well, easy to find things and obviously has been a lot of work for someone to compile and edit. Despite what Ketan said about company policy, its infinitely better than a PDF version, but I've no doubt that in the fullness of time that's what he/we will end up with. Ian P

795 forum posts 34 photos | I ordered mine yesterday and I am really looking forward to receiving it and the countless evenings that will be spent perusing it. Chronos also used to do an excellent catalogue which similarly, I thoroughly enjoyed perusing, getting ideas from and finding solutions. There was never a problem identifying what my wife or kids could buy me for Christmas or birthday. Flicking through a website is of no enjoyment to me and the reality is that I will not go to a website just to browse but only if I "need " something or to order something that I have seen in a catalogue. 2805 forum posts 219 photos | I dipped into mine in the bath last night - as ever a good read and beautifully produced; no doubt the idea is that it won't be lightly discarded along with the junk mail. If John Stevenson failed with the stub drills then I clearly have no chance! PS I wasn't quite clear whether the 127 gear comes as standard with the SC4? |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | Posted out ones have arrived here though mine may have been sent a little earlier than others. I suppose it it quite a big outlay to stock stub drills, really need to cover 1 - 10mm in 0.1mm steps to cover tapping and reaming sizes and maybe 10.5, 11, 11.5 and 12. So assuming you would have to get in a box of 10 of each size that is going to be close on 1000 drills at £4-5 a pop average which is quite an outlay. Not allowing for those that will want imperial. Watch out for a review of the new indexable Endmill and shell mills in MEW289, having just seen what they retail at it is not worth going elsewhere to try and save a few quid. |
