Thread: Hoover Motor Lubrication
30/04/2021 13:53:59

Chris , According to the Kennedy brochures , the motor bearings are indeed ball bearings , though they do not describe a lubrication schedule for the motor . The secret with electric motors is not to over-lubricate . General advice is to use NGLI ( National Lubrication Grease Institute ) grades 2 or 3 , with a viscosity of 100 -150 cSt . More detailed information is available from Mobile . Have tried to find the icon to insert a link , but failed miserably am afraid , but hopefully will be able to email info to you if you feel it would be beneficial to you . Trevor.

Thread: Which type/brand of razor blades stay sharp longest? (cutting card/greyboard)
28/04/2021 12:00:36

John , In case you didn't know , the 10A blade is the lightest straight blade that SM produce and is designed for their No3 handle . If your handle is able to accept different straight blades , l have some larger ones available to fit the No 4 handle , as well as some to fit their craft knives , and if you PM me your contact details , l can supply a couple of each for you to try . Thread: Drilled Hole Tolerances
24/04/2021 11:43:26

Chris , When l worked for Intal in Sheffield ( then part of Clarkson International ) the points on our drills were produced to within a concentricity tolerance to the lands of 0.003" , thus , under certain cirmstances the drill could drill up 0.006" over size if the point was at its limit of eccentricity , with the body of the drill being ground to tolerances of +0.000" and nominally undersize by a small amount dependant upon diameter . The drills were also subject to strickley controlled heat treatment regimes . All these factors contributed to the finished product's accuracy , hence the reason why ours , and our other direct Sheffield competitors such as Presto ( Easterbrooke and Allcard ) and Dormer were so expensive
