MORE TV DROSS FOR THE MASSES For the masses it may be, but if stimulates just some of those 'masses' to make something or at least become aware that there are still people that make things in this country it can't be that bad. John

When posting links and advertising like this it would be courteous to provide at least a little detail about the content. It is like those irritating Youtube videos and ebay ads that start "must see..." or "worth a look..." V8Eng is not being discourteous in my view. He clearly showed the title of the program, the time it was on (with an alternative) and the TV channel. It is not advertising and there are no links. If anyone wanted or needed more detailed information about the program it would be in the TV listings. V8Eng should be thanked for bringing it to our attention. It may look as if I am championing the program but that is not the case.

1826 forum posts 1 photos | My post about this programme originated from the fact I pretty much stumbled upon it by accident, I was certainly not intending to be discourteous in any way. Having watched it for a few minutes, I thought it might be of interest to to some of the people on this forum. I assumed that there was enough information available in guides etc for people to decide about watching it, not wanting to be typing rather than watching the programme. As to dross for the masses, I can only say one persons idea of dross might be somebody else's gem, who can really say they are qualified to judge? I have no connection with the media and (as far as I'm concerned) not advertising anything. Edited By V8Eng on 28/07/2014 19:18:28 |

![]() 7468 forum posts 230 photos | It might be of a little interest to have some idea what the program is about, we some times get to see some of these programs, maybe 2 or 3 years after the BBC shows it at home. It may of course be on pay TV, but I don't go there. Ian S C |

2032 forum posts 41 photos | Ian to summarise. Some chap billed as "inventor".. Buys boat... Has (well his four yearold does) idea that a helium ballon carrying camera would be great security feature... Has play ...goes to see expert.. Has another idea...for canopy over back og boat...goes to another expert , who talks him out of that and sends him to company that already makes that sort of thing Has another idea ..another expert makes it work for him.....and so on.... Launches boat..cue another expert to explain why wooden boats leak..for a while. .. Goes steaming off along river after loosing helium ballon...knot failure... ( just as well , what with bridges).... Seems typical fluff to me don't plan to watch anymore Edited By jason udall on 29/07/2014 18:08:01 |

436 forum posts 5 photos | I think that guy was brilliant. . . as a salesman, selling such a train of poorly thought out ideas to a programme company. We hired a yacht in 1975 (out of Lymington) which had a proper working pram hood. As for his recycling fish manure to lettuce, seems a good idea if you are on Mars or have a garden , but on a boat? . I am surprised that he did not have a cow as well. I noticed that he had some "proper engineer" to get his diesel going - says it all. Frank |
