![]() 1181 forum posts 669 photos | Thanks Tony. Should be interesting if enough people join. Let's hope so. I have just about given up on this valuably resource since Yahoo 'updated' to the NEO interface, nearly a year ago now, and broke Groups. Checked My Groups yesterday, and the number of posts has collapsed to single figures, with only two into double. Previous to NEO, Classic, it was a pleasure logging in and reading them all, but now virtually a desert. There is an ongoing campaign, www.http://modsandmembersblog.wordpress.com to get the old 'Classic' interface back. Yahoo CEO, Marissa Meyer, appears hell bent on destroying Yahoo, where all precious have failed. Talk about someone reaching a position beyond their competence! Geoff - Bad day today due to treatment. |

![]() 2314 forum posts 139 photos | I do agree Geoff - Yahoo! Groups are now a nonsense. However what's wrong with starting a dedicated thread here? I have certainly toyed with the idea of making a Worden and, even if I don't a thread would be interesting. ( hopefully!) Norman |

I have made a Worden and it is fine except height adjustment, contemplating making a mod for that. Clive Don't know whether you saw this PIC of my Worden, height adjustment is a worthwhile mod and quite simple to do. I used whatever was to hand, in this case a 'leftover' column from my quorn build and the wheel head collar suitably modified to take an ally mounting plate for the motor. The column is drilled and slotted to allow a central m6 screw to raise and lower the motor. I'll post a better PIC of this arrangement tomorrow. Graeme |

Norman I agree Norman, this would be the ideal place for a dedicated Worden thread. I have built one myself and find it an excellent tool for my needs ( some pics in one of my albums if you care to peruse!), hasn't got all the bells and whistles of the Quorn but then it doesn't take a lifetime to build either! Regards, Martin. |

2292 forum posts 159 photos | There was someone displaying a Quorn at Harrogate that used a modified motor height adjustment column. It did not have the coarse external thread but I did not manage to get close enough to see exactly how it worked. If anyone know how it works I would be interested as I would like to do the same thing to my cross vice based tool grinder. Les. |

1058 forum posts 16 photos | Hi Les, I would hazzard a guess that would have been Martin Gregory, I've done the same on my quorn and Worden grinder, this picture should give you a rough idea of how to achieve the same Graeme |

1058 forum posts 16 photos | Hi Les. yes it is made from solid bar, a piece of chromed steel, this is also the way in which Martin Gregory made his. I drilled the bar from both ends using an extended drill made froma standard drill with the shank turned down and shrink fitted into a piece of silver steel bar. There is a key in the bar at 90 degrees to the slot which engages in the wheelhead collar to prevent rotation whilst raising and lowering. Graeme |

1058 forum posts 16 photos | Les, BMS will be fine, that's what was specified originally for the Quorn. I used the chromed bar because I had a piece the right size. Check locally for any companies that do repairs to hydraulic rams, I've obtained quite a few damaged rams from a local company in return for the odd machining favor, new bar is not prohibitively expensive, and the advantage is that it does not gall like BMS will.
