Why advertise something you don't sell ???

I am talking about the Emco advert on the RH side, been bugging me for ages but now decided to write about it.

Rolling advert saying what they sell. Starts off with "Tailored to the Future"

Then scrolls thru Laser Cutters, 3D Scanners, Machine tools and 3D printers.

However a quick look and search finds no instances of Laser Cutters, 3D Scanners or 3D Printers. Can't be arsed looking any further if this is the quality of their advertising.

[ Not exactly a sour grapes post as I'm in the market for a 3D printer ]

JS have you done something naughty as I've just had to approve the above post which was in the moderated first post section. Or did you make it a pre moderated thread for some reason??

This link will take you to the Emco printers and cutters on the Emco UK site rather than ProMachines useless site

Why has my post concerning the mist-spelling of coal (as cole) in a full page advert in the current ME been moderated out?

For some reason this thread has been set a pre-moderated, I assume one of the other Mods has deleted your comment as its not there now.

Can whoever set this thread to pre-moderated or is deleting replys say who they are and why (PM will do)

OK looked into it a bit more and it looks like JS chose to put it in a topic section where any posts will require moderation.

Lambton, I still don't know who or why your coal post was deleted, maybe MHS did not want the advertiser blaming them if they did the artwork.

J

PS just off to approve my own post now

Talking of typo's, the spelling of Australia in the Eccentric Engineering advert s a bit eccentric.

Sorry, my bad, just put it in a category I thought fitting.

Where the moderated bit comes in I don't know.

Looks like this whole sub forum ispre-moderated ?

JasonB - as a moderator your post does not make sense. Who are you asking not to post? I do appreciate almost all of the posts on this forum.

Thanks for the tip-off Joe, I hadn't noticed that, no it wasn't a deliberate attempt to be eccentric laugh.

ME modified the ad when they went to the wider format and must have accidentally added an extra i, I'll ask them to correct it.

Cheers

Gary

Sandy had you waited and not posted you would have seen that I was moving all the posts in a moderated thread to the holding thread and then giving the holding post a new title. If you now read the above thread you will see that there were problem with all posts having to be moderated which takes up the voluntry moderators time as does replying to your post.

Re the typo 'cole' instead of 'coal' - I have no idea why it was deleted. It wasn't me but it might have been someone in head office.

Thanks for your ongoing diligence as ever, Jason.

I do not mind typos when it is a matter of dyslexic fingers, but when the actual letters are incorrect (ie cole = coal) then someone wants their backside rapped [or a P45]. Obviously proof readers are no longer necessary in this spellcheck age.

No I don't think so.

Diane and DC1 are paid and have the most authority over the forum but can only really be expected to look in when they have a moment between preparing the magazines and during their paid hours ( they wish).

Katy tends to just keep an eye out and will act on something technical if it is brought to her attention, again can only expect her to do it within her working hours.

JS and I have slightly less authority so can only do certain things. Speaking for myself I have a look in before I start work, at Lunchtime as I am now and as I have the time in the evenings and weekends. I expect JS is the same as we both have to work for a living.

Stew and Wolfie seem to do things quietly in the background, though I'm not sure what.

Now if you got rid of a couple of the voluntry moderators you would find things go unattended for longer, for example if there is a forum glitch or a new first post from a member it may not get any attention from Friday evening to Monday morning, at least the way it is now its unlikely things won't be left for more than 6 hours at the most. Even if its something I can't deal with I can let Diane or Katy know.

How many moderators do you feel are needed and why?

Hi Jason

Why are members of this web site so picky and petty about what has been posted. You start to read a thread and then someone spells a word incorrectly and 61 posts of complaints occur before we get back to the original subject.

Life is to short for all this agro.

Fred

PS This should upset all those MOANERS
