It appears there is something wrong with the ads on the right of the pages. They seem to link back to the page they are displaying next to, rather than the advertsers sites.

At the moment they link to:

http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/new_thread.asp#

But this changes as you change pages. Note the "#" added to the end..

As its these ads that pay for us having this site, I thought it only fair to mention this!

Not true here - just checked with two ads. Both came back full circle to this page.

Greetings, Hansrudolf

If I click on the ad, IE opens a new window with the correct companys web page in it. .... odd

Just saw that the problem only exists when I choose 'open in new tab'.

A direct click is ok.

Sorry for the slight confusion,

Same for me. When I open in new tab, Firefox simply opens the original window in the new tab.

If I do the same in IE (which I don't habitually use), it opens the original window in a new tab plus the vendor's page in a new window.

Bummer really because I typically open such links in a new tab by clicking on them with the middle mouse button - it's quite automatic now.

They don't work for me, using my iPad. All I get is a "page not found" message and a link back to the MEW homepage. I'll try on the desktop (Windows) and laptop (Linux OS) later.

John,

[currently] They're working fine on my iPad with a single tap.

But "press and hold" reveals the # link that Neil mentioned.

... Looks like the developers have been tinkering in the gearbox.

Here Firefox prevents the opening of a pop-up window.

The displayed link is a reference back to this page with a '#' on the end.

I wonder if it is a scripting error producing unpredicatble results depending on the browser used?

Interesting suggestions. If I click it opens a child window with (e.g.) warco in it, if I 'open in new tab' it just duplicates the page.
