![]() 2747 forum posts 123 photos | A new feature has appeared on the homepage of this website promoting a webapp for IOS and Android devices, so I thought I would try this web app on my iPad. Clicking the link on this websites homepage gives a ' Page Not Found' error. I searched the Applestore but could not find it so I tried looking in the Android Market, but that too does not appear to know anything about the ME & MEW app. Does the app exist? If it does, what am I doing wrong?

I see what you mean. It seems to work when you use the link from your iPad (etc) but not from a PC (or Mac presumably). I guess it detects the device. Edited By Sid Herbage on 24/02/2012 01:21:02 |

![]() 2747 forum posts 123 photos | I tried again on the iPad, this time I followed the instructions! It does work on the iPad if you download it from the iPad, having said that, I do not think anyone would describe it as a true 'App', it seems more like an ordinary link. Actually although I just said it works, I used that term pretty loosely as the best view I can get only allows me to see the top half of the magazine pages with any clarity. I tried the same method of installing it on my Android phone, and from there it does not work. Ian P |

829 forum posts 1 photos | I found the same (top half of pages only) with the iPad horizontal. I could get the whole page if I turned it vertical .... however, then I seemed to lose the side toolbar. And that toolbar seems to be necessary to zoom to a comfortable reading size etc. Standard iPad gestures apparently don't work. Not very comfortable to use. Again it's a situation where pdf's work much better - in that case you can spread-fingers to zoom the bit you're reading to a comfortable size, one-finger scroll in any direction etc. Much more flexible. I've been spoiled - I don't think I'll be using this "app" much. |

![]() 111 forum posts 3 photos | Just worked fine for me on my iPad. Actual product is a bit clunky and crude compared to others, but it worked. But given the overall operation of this forum software and facilities....... That is what you would expect, sadly. Edited By EtheAv8r on 18/03/2012 10:09:04 |

Will anybody bother fixing the app? I cannot use it on my android tablet Dont hold your breath! If the problems on this site are anything to go by the chances of it being anything like usable are zero. Its unusable on my iPad, well it appears, but I can only zoom in so that it is readable on one half of a page only. Ian |

Hi the link in the article on this site hasn't been created propperly. It's got "www.model-engineer.co.uk" in the link twice, the link should be http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/app/ Dave |

Ian, I think that's why they call it a "Web App" ... Frankly, I'm amazed that Apple hasn't got litigious about these. MichaelG.

Michael When it first appeared on the website it was called an 'App'. The wording changed after this thread started.

Then, maybe Apple did have a word with someone ? ... something like "desist" ?? MichaelG. |

![]() 2747 forum posts 123 photos | Michael I doubt Apple would bother, in fact I'm not sure whether Apple's patents and copyrights include the word 'App' as I think its applies to Android and other systems too. I notice that the 'boxes' that are on the left of this website screen have''rounded corners' which is Apple territory, however MHS have played safe so the bottom two corners are left square!
