yes, this is via the app.

i also just tried accessing via the pocketmags website - online reader. i also only get the current issue shown. However, and now i am kicking myself, the quality is vastly superior to the archive view. but like others, when i first tried the pocketmags app, it wasnt worth the effort.

i've recently got access to a tablet, and my phone actually has pretty good resolution, so i thought i'd download pocket mags to catch up on some reading.

i was already registered with pocket mags, added my subscriber number, and lo, there is the current issue. But how do i get all the back issues from my subscription (now 3 or 4 years at least?). I have only ever read them from the archive, and not worried about offline access, but now i'd like to, given that is a feature of the subscription i pay for.

emails to both pocketmag and secureorder.co.uk as advised within the app and the subs area on this site have gone unanswered, although one did get an auto responder reply.

i've found a good coating for brass is 'incralac' - i did some piano brass about 30 years ago, it still looks good. not subject to much handling of course.

what are you drilling through? drill a hole through an oversize lump of steel, then machine the rest so the hole is in the middle...

is 'sharp' on HSS the same as 'sharp' on carbide? the load on the mill may be different.

I'd expect they have different co-efficient of friction, so the noise may well have been the swarf sliding (or not) over the clearance surfaces.

Andrew, my current frames are alleged to be titanium, purchased for ~AUD30 from the great PRC. Normally get them as a package deal from my local optician at a much higher price, but this time round he said, sorry, that style is out of style and wasn't able to find any. So, off to ebay. In fact, the first pair they sent were not what i ordered and almost identical to my last pair, and would have been about 10% of what i paid 2 years ago. They then simply sent the correct ones. My optician was quite happy to install the lenses to them. So, perhaps an option if yours aren't repairable.

this weekend i proved that $3000 worth of machinery and $0.05 of scrap can salvage a $2.00 plastic tap handle...

It was stuck firmly on the tap spindle, so i made a simple puller and removed it with no (perceptible) damage. actually, i saved $12 as i would have needed to replace 5 other matching handles...

(actually, just looked up replacement price - i actually saved over $20.00! - not to mention an excuse to spend an hour in the shed...)

if your vehicle is 'written off' do you have the option to 'buy back' - that is, assuming you can get the damage repaired at a sensible price 'outside' the insurance company process (eg, DIY). In Oz, a write off really means the repair cost is higher than the value of the vehicle, so that limits how much they will pay for the repair. (repair of my sons corolla recently being a case in point). a couple of hours repaired the damage 'functionally' if not cosmetically, and i banked a cheque for the value. I then had to re-insure the car, which required only an assertion that it was roadworthy, not even a test to prove this.

(for completeness, there are also 'statutory writeoffs' which have suffered damage deemed irreparable and therefore not registerable, and there is a 'written off register' for newer cars which have higher requirements to repair, mainly to prevent 'rebirthing'. )

despite the 35 C day on Saturday, I managed to 'unshorten' my sons corolla, being the meat sandwiched between 2 other vehicles when the rearmost declined to stop when the others did.

Very pleased, the boot lid lines up all around and locks and unlocks (almost) perfectly, having removed the 'overbite' caused by the shortening. Very useful things, hydraulic rams. If you have something to push against.

The trouble with older cars, minor damage results in an insurance writeoff...

a productive weekend...

set up an arduino mega to read remote codes for my aircon (to build a control system to put aircon in econ mode when house is running offgrid on batteries. (which are almost installed...)

removed a tree that fell on a fence last december

started building a demo wind turbine for daughters school project on energy and sustainability

repaired '4 way' paper cutter for LOML.

finally (i hope!) found leak in dishwasher - the impeller had somehow come loose, leaving the rear seal, well, not sealing. Now need to find a 3" by 1/8" o ring seal - i think the current one is not as firm as i would expect. its such a paint to get the dw out, i want to be sure its fixed this time (attempt #4, although the original fault was a motor overcurrent alarm. i'm hoping it was related to the impeller and not something else, everytime i put it back together i was getting a different fault.)

despatched, with assistance from a couple of new mouse traps, a number of uninvited house guests.

and earlier in the week repaired a watch band for LOML

i agree with Frank and John - an old audio amp driven from a simple frequency generator should give you enough power at that frequency.

possibly doesnt need to be that big - depends on what you are grinding i guess, but an old 100 w amp should be pretty cheap, you may be able to parallel the channels.
