I recently had a milling cutter priced for sharpening locally and it was £18 plus vat. It is 125ml long but it seems a lot?
I was just wondering if there is anywhere mail order?

Paul....there is a gentleman called Geoff Josey who advertises on the Home Workshop site who sharpens end mills and slot drills. Not only does he do a fantastic job of them but he charges an unbelievable £1 each plus postage....he will ask you to make the cheque payable to a hospice. Thoroughly recommended and very speedy service from a true gentleman........which reminds me, I must send off another batch to him.
His email address is ......... [email protected]

Regards
Mick

I've found the add for Goeff Josey and he sharpens cutters up to a maximum of 16mm unfortunately mine is 3/4 with a 5/8 shank.

Hi There
5/8 is less than 16mm.
Perhaps he is limited to shank size so he could do it.
regards David

I've sent him an e-mail David. I'm hoping he goes on shank size rather than cutter size.

I've been in touch with Geoff Josey and he only sharpens the ends.

I've just received back today 10 HSS cutters that Geoff has re-sharpened for me this week from 1/4" -3/8" & 6mm - 16mm. I can say what a fine job he has done & quickly too. He still does cutter sharpening to this day & as for cost ... extremely cost effective...£16 for 10 cutters. I sent a PO for the amount made out to himself & he made out a check to his hospice choice, or as above, a cheque made out to the charity. I can thoroughly recommend his service should anyone need cutters sharpening, just e- mail him at ... [email protected]

George.

I have the equipment to properly grind both the ends and flutes of end mills. Unfortunately I am in the US so it is impractical for me to offer services. Were I closer to you I would propose a mill sharpening party where you bring your cutters plus pizza and beer. Maybe you can find a member in the UK that is properly equipped and willing to do a similar thing.

I think you will find the industrial sharpening services expensive unless you have a large number of identical mills to sharpen.
