Sounds clear enough to me. Turned brass 3/8 dia by 30mm long and found he had a taper of 0.0025. First question - if you leave the same cut set and keep running the tool along several times does the taper reduce? Use slow feed. John - Edited By John W1 on 12/10/2015 11:10:18 Sorry for the late reply havent been around that is exactly the problem thank you will try that and the other suggestions Best Wishes Martin

Another thumbs up for Tracytools, ordered some taps yesterday afternoon, arrived with this mornings post, on their standard delivery - now why can't all suppliers be this efficient Graeme
I second that tracy tools are a excellent company to deal with I ordered some taps from them. The parcel got lost in the post when I phoned them to say that it didn't arrive they sent another one straight away Excellent service Best Wishes Martin

If I were to start all over again, the first machine tool I would buy would be a good metal cutting band saw. Then the mill and lathe.
I totally agree The thought of cutting 2inch dia bar with a hacksaw makes the cost of a bandsaw a very worthwhile Investment Best Wishes Martin

I have used a hacksaw blade suitably ground in a slotted holder I made. Just the job for smaller work especially brass fittings etc. It is easily reground and even in the event of breakage it only takes a minute or so to sort out. Best wishes John B
Same here I find hacksaw blades make very good parting tools with a suitable slotted holder. Cheap as chips as well I keep all my broken or worn out blades now
